Henry Morris on Trial: Conclusion

By Tommy Huxley
Posted on: 4/20/2002

Part IV of a detailed, four-part examination of some of the ideas of Henry Morris.

Henry Morris on Trial: How Creation Science Abuses the Second Law of Thermodynamics, Misrepresenting Both Science and Scripture

In summary, Henry Morris and his young-Earth creationist colleagues misrepresent the facts about the Second Law of Thermodynamics. That law about entropy does not rule out the possibility of biological evolution because evolution works on many of the same principles as biological reproduction. And reproduction always stays one step ahead of the downhill-moving universe.

Second, Henry Morris doesn’t care about arguing against the scientific merits of natural selection. He believes that conceding the existence of biological evolution makes his God appear cruel, weak, inconstant, and fallible. And how can you debate the scientific merits of any theory if that means you must acknowledge that your God is less than what you expect?

And finally, linking the Second Law of Thermodynamics as a consequence of The Fall is ridiculously unbiblical. Creationist ideology must provide so much consolation to its adherents that they can’t recognize their own heresies. After all, God Himself in Proverbs 30:5-6 warns Henry Morris and his fellow apostates that “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”

Creation Science is just bad science, and bad religion.
