Movies so bad they are fun to watch:
Most of the ones at the top of my list have already been mentioned. It's clear if there ever was an SFN film fest, I'd feel right at home.
A couple of other films occur to me:
*Probably any number of John Carpenter films fit here, though Escape from New York and it's sequel rise immediately to the top.
*Beneath the Planet of the Apes: The first one had it's moments, this sequel was bombastic and silly, but fun. It was essentially a star trek episode (minus the orbiting mother ship). If it was William Shatner instead of James Franscicus (sp?), that bomb (the cobalt one, not the movie) would have stopped on 01 seconds for sure!
One of my first choices would have been The Evil Dead movies. I share other folks' appreciation of Bruce Campbell, and he and Sam Raimi seem to work well together (evil dead films, Xena and Herc). Surely he must pop up in Spider-Man somewhere.
On really good movies that are considered midnite fare:
The original Children and Village of the damned (the second is actually better than the first (weak ending, tho). A cross between Clarke's "Childhood's End" and Henderson's "The People."
By the way, a lot of these films mentioned in this thread are starting to pop up (with no commercials) on AMC anf Turner Classic Movies.

Minor Spoiler Alert
He plays the ring announcer in Spidey's wrestling match. Bravo to Raimi. Keep this guy working.

By the way, this was an excellent movie! Highly recommended.
Lucy Lawless, Bruce Campbell, and Ted Raimi (Joxer the Mighty!) all have parts. I think I caught a quick glimpse of Stan Lee during the parade scene, pulling a little girl close to him or out of the way as the Green Goblin attacked.

I'm taking my son to see it, hopefully this weekend. I'm sure that was Stan you saw, or that he's in there somewhere. I have heard nothng but good remarks about this.
At one time James Cameron had the option to make this-- he wanted to cast Leonardo DiCaprio. Now that's scarey!

Thank you! Yes, 'A Boy and his Dog' very funny movie. Kind of a really long story to get to the punch line but worth it. LOL. Black comedy is one of my favorite kind of movies. Would love to see it again. Only saw it once some years ago in a movie theater. BTW, when Don Johnson was in 'Miami Vice' it drove me crazy because he somehow looked different then in the movie and I couldn't quite, 'till this day, figure out what it is about him or rather his face. Like he had plastic surgery or something. Anyone else notice that?
PS, Today I was thinking about a movie that IMO is very obscure. But I don't have cable and don't know if the Sci-fi channel has showen it. I don't remember if it's a bad movie, last time I saw it was many years ago and don't even remember the whole story other then it's a typical spaceman from Mars type movie from what I do remember. Has anyone ever heard of 'The Man from Planet X'? It's just one of those childhood memories that sticks in your mind. Would also like to see it again. * * * * * * *Carabao forever. ----------------- Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

Good, I thought maybe I was one of the few that's laughed their way through that drinking binge. (As for the 'eh' part, picked that up working for a Canuck. At least I dropped that sometime in the past year, eh.)

[quote] I've also head people say 'Cadnadian accent'. What Accent?
Growing up eh and remembering a show called "You Can't Do That On Television", a Canadian-made show on Nickelodeon eh (in which Alannis Morrosette starred before she became a very popular singer with an incredibly annoying voice, eh), the most prominent example of a "Canadian accent" is the word "about". Canadians (and Northern Americans such as in Minnesota) pronounce it like "aboot", eh?
And Canadians are known to end sentences commonly with "eh?". Though I've no idea how accurate American pop culture stereotypes are in this case, eh?

This is something I've been wondering for a very long time. You keep mentioning the 'eh', about Canadians. I don't get it. My mother was from Canada and all my aunts and uncles. I even met a few of my Canadian relatives when I was younger, quiet a while ago but I didn't notice anything in their speech that was 'different'. I've also heard people say 'Canadian accent'. What Accent? Maybe I was so accustom to hearing my relatives I don't know what you are talking about. What ARE you talking about? Can we clear this matter up once and for all? Oh, one thing.....my mother was hard of hearing and would cup her hand over her ear and ask, what? all the time. Kind of like saying 'eh?' But I'm sure that's not what you mean.

I'm not sure who Alannis Morrosette is but if you are saying that Canadians say 'aboot' instead of about, perhaps you are talking about the ones from Nova Scotia, haha! I still don't know any who talk like that. But I'll try to listen more carefully.

That's the thing that gets me. It just isn't true, again, not the ones I know. Or perhaps it's a common low class or uneducated kind of speech. Something like people in the USA who say, 'ya know' after each sentence.
