I don't know if he qualifies for a Darwin Award, but I know that if something like that had happened in the US, his next of kin would be sueing the authoroties for several millions for letting him escape.

That's a pretty odd article. I don't see it's relation to evolution though. Can someone fill me in?

The idea behind this and similar dark humor concepts is that intelligence is an inheritable trait and that people, who cause their own death through their own stupidity, improve the overall human genepool in an example of natural selection.
There are even socalled Darwin Awards for people who manage to cull the herd by killing themselves in the most spectacular and dumbest fashion.
The humor behind this is not for everyone and the idea of this actually being evolution in action is more of ha-ha-only-serious type.

Ah...I see. I thought for a moment the link was changed to feature a new article. Hey, sometimes I need my hand held and led to the humor.
I would say yes, this is an example of evolution via natural selection taking place. It's ugly, but at least my kids don't have to cross the street in front of his kids.

While this may certainly be Nature's way of cleansing the Homo sapiens gene pool, I think it's more an example of poetic justice. After being killed, this judge was avenged when his murderer was eaten by a creature of the same IQ level.
