I have been playing with code that formats fonts in the hopes of speeding download times up a bit. Does anyone see any problems with their font display?

I don't know but but FONT-SIZE: 4pt for the SmallFont format is a bit too small I think. Where it says Posted - 07/27/2002 : 17:36:47 it is no longer readable for me. It could also be just my unfortuante combination of to small monitor with to high resolution and to bad eyesight.
added:
Was it intentionally, that your post shows up in a different format then my reply?

Sigh, no it was not intentional. I had 2 different classes going for topic starter and replies. Thanks again!

The only places the fonts look different are in the posts themselves. And the difference is slight at that. Otherwise, I don't notice any other changes.

Hmmmm. The font seems much larger now. I have to scroll across the bottom to get see the whole forum page from side to side. And the posts I have to center...

Kil, if you have a wheel-mouse, try holding the ctrl key and manipulating the mouse-wheel. Quick and e-z font-size changes.

Ok, I have messed around with some more CSS. I am just curious as to how this looks on other systems and browsers because although what I do should comply to standards in the real world it is not so easy.

As a final touch on this phase I created a linked style sheet and noticed a sudden and noticeable improvement in performance. Does the forum seem to load any faster for anyone else?

Everything looks fine to me. The speed improvemnt is not very noticeable, but it was always rather fast for me anyway. Maybe putting all that repetitive javascript in a seperate file, too?
the only thing odd i noticed is that you used the h5 for button-like decoration instead of declaring something extra for that type of thing. Now everywhere someone uses h5 tags inpost he gets those strange buttons. Not that many people use them anyway.

Hmmmmmm yes that's a good point. I will definately need to attend to that!
The site loads in about 2 seconds now and before it was about 3 seconds because I am on DSL but that 1 second might or might not be significant to someone on dial up.
The javascript is being looked at as well. The deminsions for pop ups should be dynamic for a variety of reasons. One of those being it will eliminate 10 or so lines of code and every little bit helps.
