Would be nice to have a feature that links to the last few posts instead of just the last one. Any possibility?
Here's an example on the upper left side under the heading "The Latest": http://www.smirkingchimp.com/

You mean the last few posts for the whole site? Active Topics is like that only better since you can adjust the time frame to suit you. I was having trouble getting the pages to load so maybe I missed something there.

Hey, great. Little rusty here after quite a hiatus.

In most german forums a link is generated to the first post in a topic that has been added since your last logout. How 'bout that? |

Well, on the 'Active Topics' page, you can simply click on the link for the last page in any particular thread. Then, it's just a matter of scrolling or pressing the End key on your keyboard. |

Another thing @, is there anywhere on this site where you can see the amount of people tht visit this site during the day???? Minor I know, but it would be interesting to see how many hits you get!!! |

I'm still upset that the site has been messed with again. Why am I not seeing Active Topics on the top of EACH page as it was before? Now, one has to click too many links to get to it, too much bother. I wrote to Kil a while ago about it but haven't gotten a responce as of this post. |

I forwarded your letter to Larry. This was his response:
quote: Yes, the links at the top are gone. I have set us up with an account at a real web advertising company that requires that spot for impression based web advertising. The top right area is considered THE PRIMO ad location and we are NOT wasting it for links anymore. All links that were there are still on the site under "Interactive Menu" but this change could bring us some sweet currency and we could send you to Skeptic conferences and stuff. Yeah, ads sort of suck but they also serve a purpose.

Ok, thanks. Yes, I did find them...it's just that it takes longer to get to where one is going by having to click so many more linkie thingies. And when one is paying by the minute to be on line, well...it's adds up. Thanks anyway.

OK, fine by me! I never pay attention to any kind of advertizing anyway. Only well done car commericals on TV. But if they can send someone to a Skeptic conference, that's great.

Hey, wait up!!! I'm coming with you. Coincidently, just tonight on PBS, on the Nightly Business Report, there was a story about how companies are trying to bombard us with ads anyway they can. Sneaking them in movies, (product placement), which is not new. But they are buying 'floor space' in supper markets. As we walk down the isles we are now stepping on advertizing as we push our shopping carts that have pictures of what they want us to buy. And then watching close circit TV commericals while standing in line to pay. Let's rebel. An English teacher of mine, years ago said, people waste too much time, they could be reading as they stand in line instead of just standing there. So I say, let's all take a book to the market and protest being made to view ads all over the place. |
