I found this really quite surprising that a company would go so far as to voice anti-american opinions to help sell some extra burgers. http://www.business2.com/articles/mag/0,1640,45496,FF.html
I urge you to read this article. It really is unfair that a place like McDonalds would voice political opinions in their advertisements in order to boost sail. I would have a problem with it even if these ads weren't anti-american.
Here's a good example from the article: quote: Egypt 2001
Problem: Anti-American boycott sparked by U.S. support for Israel.
McSpin: Local outlets introduce the McFalafel, rolled out behind an ad jingle sung by Shabaan Abdel Rahim, best known for his chart-topping hit "I Hate Israel."

*shakes his head*
Each of the franchises are run by other people who make these...but it is surprising what some will do to keep a profitable business...Of course, the main reason the Arab nations hate us to begin with is the support of Israel. Given that the alternatives might range from closure to the complete incineration of the store, I suppose they had no choice. |
