Whilst surfing around in search of sites relating to vacuum tubes (I do a lot of work with toob stuff) I ran across a real gem:

Mike's Electric Stuff

Mike collects old, weird and big tubes, unidentified electronic components and designs and builds (beautifully) digital clocks with old-school display technology. What makes his site completely wonderful is his interest in high-voltage experimenting, as in taking everyday objects and totally nuking the bejabbers out of them with humongous electric arcs.

Ever wonder what would happen if you took a CD, put it in the microwave for a few minutes and then set it on top of your Tesla coil? Mike can show you, and in the process demonstrate that there is no more satisying way to cope with balky appliances than the art of blowing s**t up with high-energy electrical discharges.

Don't miss the Destruct-O-Tron page.

Someone get this guy a grant. There are so many other things in life that could be remedied by the application of this branch of Guy Science.

Yeah, that stuff can be really cool. I get to see it in action at work, except when I see it, it ain't on purpose!

I bet I could do all that kind of stuff. I just don't want to that's all. Besides, I've heard that it can be dangerous to stick things other than electrical plugs into electrical outlets. I don't know for sure, but that's just what I've heard.

I've stuck my finger into an outlet, it didn't so much hurt, but I couldn't remember the next few minutes clearly...

One of the science teachers at our school will cook you a hot dog if you ask him with arcing current. They taste so good when cooked only on the inside.
