Touché!
I like the columnist's common sense come back concerning the 'majority rules - In god We Trust' malarkey.

"We are all connected; to each other biologically, to the earth chemically, to the rest of the universe atomically."

"So you're made of detritus [from exploded stars]. Get over it. Or better yet, celebrate it. After all, what nobler thought can one cherish than that the universe lives within us all?"

Ah crap! That was good and all, and right on the mark, but if only she wouldn't have exclusively chosen examples that the people she is responding to consider typical liberal talking points. That won't inspire thought in those people, it's just a typical "left vs. right" volley in which the important message is lost in the noise.

(and dammit, no one knows who would be President right now if we went with majority voting! But I won't start that up again... )

[but ya know, if I ever get that email, I still might just reply-to-all, and paste her article in the message! ]

She chose those to make her point. I often say to people that are right wing and don't think the President's decisions should be criticized: "What did you say when Clinton sent troops to Bosnia?" Or some other Clinton decision. It often shuts them up pretty fast. But I never had such an attutude. It does seem(I know, a generality) that right of center types have this attitude more and don't understand how our system really works even though they make statements like "majority rules" etc. Like the author said, if the majority did rule we would have a different president right now.

Good idea. I've received that pathetic e a couple of times now (it immediately went into the dumper). Think, like you, I'll keep that article ready for a re salvo back at 'em.

Obviously. I'm just saying that the examples she chose are real hot button issues with the people she is addressing the article to. I'm afraid they will distract from the main point, rather than drive that point home.

But I could be wrong.
