I've had the same results with Opera 6 and Opera 7.01. The applet seems to load OK, but when I try to log in I get a "you have attempted to log into an imposter chat room. connection denied" error message.
This has persisted from the old version of the room to the new chat software.
Could be a Java thing, but Opera 7.01 seems to work pretty well with Java otherwise.
It works fine when I fire up IE, which makes the chat room the only thing I use IE for nowadays.
