Check this link out: http://truthout.org/docs_03/022803A.shtml

It throws a disconcerting light on recent developments within the Bush administration. The Project for a New American Century (discussed in the article- sounds ominous, doesn't it?) seems to hail the begining of the USA as the new roman empire, with all the wonderful things that entails.

Goodbye freedom and civil rights. Hello emperor Bush...

Yeah! And the Christian thing P. Bush has going on is IMO also something to worry about.
I didn't read that link (above) but I guess that's also a comparison.

I have no boob-tube. Can you give a quick synopsis?

"The President's Men
Wednesday, Mar. 5
In 1997 a group of conservatives outlined a foreign policy strategy for regime change in Iraq. Several now hold key positions in the Bush administration. Has the group had undue influence?"

Essentually, it covered The Project for a New American Century, with a "Yeah, so," style, IMO.

Transcript: Donald Rumsfeld interview

Heres an interesting transcript of an interview with one of these men. Actually a few tricky questions asked here..

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Can you please tell me what you mean by "Yeah, so," style?

Just read that interview. It is particulary interesting to see how Rumsfeld evades questions concerning an "American Empire". Most notably, when asked if Bush's statement of "we will be writing history from now on" could not be conceived of as imperialist, he responds by saying he did not see it that way. Huh? Exactly how can you see a statement like that..

The article starts with the quote:
quote:
"In the counsels of Government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military Industrial Complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes."

- President Dwight Eisenhower, January 1961.
I wish I could find its counterpart given by President George Washington warning about the dangers of political parties ("factions").

I don't know much (--HA! "anything"--) about PNAC but I do know that the CFR, which also has empire-building designs, used to scare me quasi-spitless (--I say "quasi" because some of the time it scared me into a nearly mouth-foaming, spittle-flying, sputtering rage). I searched the article for "CFR" but couldn't find any occurances.

Snake, you write "And the Christian thing P. Bush has going on is. . . ." I, for one, don't notice very much in [/b]George W. Bush[/b] that seems "Christian"----at least not as I think of the meaning of "Christian".

Snake: Ummm., what me means by a "Yeah, so?" style, is no denial, or evasion, just explaining a 'done deal.' The program interviewed William Kristol, as acting spokesman for the PNAC. Just a few concerned citizens, doing their part for a better world...., order. That was my impression, please feel free to form yer own, thou.

Thank you. No, I have no impressions. I don't listen to the news much. Because I don't understand most of what they are saying. Too many 'slang' words and polititcal expressions that I don't understand. It's like hearing a forigen language and only knowing every other word. Oh Well!
Guess I have to rely on you guys to know what's going on.
