I admit, I'm not thrilled by the thought of the procedure actually known as Intact Dilation and Extraction. But, does anyone think this is actually such a widespread and freely-administered procedure that it requires the intervention of the U.S. Congress?

A couple of years ago, a paramedic friend told me that it was relitivly rare, with only a few performed each year nation wide. He further said that they were mostly done to save the life of the mother. Exactly what the rest of the 'mostly' is, he didn't say.
The ban comes as no suprise. It'll be interesting to see if it gets a court challenge.

Just so. One of my 'wonderful' (Snake says scarcasticly) senators, I think it was Bubblehead, I mean Barbara, Boxer said the bill doesn't take in to account the health of the mother and that was a concern to her. For once and probably the only time I'll ever agree with her. Not because of the mother but anything to get the bill overridden. I'd like to know where any of those idiots in the Senate (or any one in the government for that matter) got their medical degrees? |
