Would that be really a good thing for Prez Bush ? I don't think so.There's yet too much time untill the 2004 election and this great victory would have been by then, forgotten.Unless the economy gets a really good boost.Even if Saddam gets killed in the early days of this war, I would'nt be surprised if they don't tell us.After invading Iraq completely, securing oil interest and the like, only then disclosing the truth about Saddam death will be undeniably a re-election ticket for Jr.

Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about it, Cal. The alledged prez has plenty of time to go after another 'villian', probably Iran. I don't think he'd try N. Korea. He's too much of a wussy to pick up a snake that might bite him.

Nope. A really "good" thing to happen for Bush is that Iraq uses chemical or biological weapons in this conflict. If they don't and the chemical and biological programs don't exist in Iraq, Bush is screwed internationally. Backlash at home may cause his removal from office. Definately sink re-election. |

Well, I think there must be somewhere a hope that if Saddam gets killed quickly, then the government would fold and much bloodshed would be avoided and Bush would look like a hero to those who didn't really want a war as well as those that thought the war was proper.
I'm just guessing though. Bush is a criminal regardless of what happens. |

Bush was in charge of attacking Aghanistan, and now threatening and invading Iraq. Here's an analysis of the legality of the latter:

That would require a conspiracy consisting of a few thousand individuals. Wouldn't stand a chance of being kept secret. Highly unlikely that Bush would be able to plant this stuff. The military doesn't care about political intrique. They are just there to do a job. A job they are very good at. |

I think Bush is already screwed up internationally. And I don't think it would be good if Iraq uses WMD either. Are you suggesting that americans lives wasted would be worth it for him even as collateral damage in order for him to retain his presidency ? How Maquiavelic.

BUZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The implications here is POLITICALLY it would be best if Iraq actually possesses the weapons that Bush alleges and uses them. If not, Bush faces serious backlash in the states. Note that the word good is in quotes. This indicates that the word is relative to a subset of parameters and not in general. The subset implied by my post is that political and international relations are the subset. It is not logical nor valid to assume that:
1) I want to see WMD's used against the military
2) I support Bush
3) I want the asshole to be re-elected
Please read the posts a little more carefully. These were avoidable errors. |

If the question is honestly, "What would be the best outcome politcally for 'da Bush-man, warrior extraordinaire' concerning this little war," then the following results would be prefered; 1) The war ends quickly, with few casualties among the "Willing." 2) Few Iraqi citizens are injured, unless the claim can be made that the Republican Guard were using the majority of these people as human shields. 3) No WMA's are used, although the allied troops find vast stockpiles with specifically designed long range delivery systems. 4) Turkey does not cross the border to wage their own war on the Kurds. 5) Israel is not targeted, and da Bush-man can take credit for swift action in preventing this crises. 6) Bush-man makes a point of telling the world how it was his humanitarian idea all along to free the Iraqi people from the terror that is Saddam, and to turn the keys to the oil for food program over to the UN ASAP. 7) Once the war ends, American and Btittish troops can be pulled out quickly, (a matter of a few months), and a puppet regime has been set up under Democratic auspices, and under direct control of the UN. 8) French, German and Russian companies are allowed an equal share of the profits from rebuilding the Iraqi oilfields and infrastructure. 9) In the meantime, some terrorists' plots are foiled by the new Department of Homeland Security, (or whatever the hell it's called), with no loss of human life, and the potential for grand media event trials are in the offering. 10) Da Bush-man, super warrior can find another war rather quickly, before the American people have too long to dwell on the harm that massive war costs, and even more massive tax cuts for the wealthy has done to their economy.
With these points covered, everyone gets what they want, except for the American people, who are going to pay for this war for years to come no matter what, and those that have given their lives in this conflict...Oh, and Saddam and his lunatic sons, of course. If they live to stand trial in international court, who knows who will get screwed!
If any of these points fail, da Bush-man already has his scuds that Saddam lobbed into Kuwait, which are violations of UN sanctions. So, it can't be too bad for him. He already has his excuse that Saddam was not in compliance.

Here's a report on the possible conclusion to the attempt to kill S. Hussein.

I'm impressed. Give this unnamed official a promotion. He must work in the administration.
Actually, it sounds like a Bushism. Considering how docile the national press corps have been concerning the administration, it probably is a Bushism, originally credited by the writer, but attributed to an unnamed official by an editor trying to protect jobs. |

Very little will go according to plan. The turks will come in,that's for sure. The oligarques biding to reconstruct are all set to do just that and they aren't sharing. There will be no WMD found unless they are planted and that would be political suicide.Homeland security will fall hopefully by the hands of the american people (if not ,this country's screwed). The war will be longer than expected, and with all that alone ,I don't expect him to get re-elected.
