I think you will find most people on this forum a skeptical of the war due the the many different reasons for given for being there. When WMD could not be found by Blix and Co, it became a liberation. Larry is right, the small sections of the we love you George Bush crowd have been selectivly shown by the embedded journo's. Betya bottom dollar that any Iraqazoids who don't show such joy are the rebels and "The last of Saddam's henchmen". The US is pre-emptively invading Iraq, that's a fact and I think the almighty dollar is the maon reason. |
Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

quote: Ph, I didnt say that this forum is a cross section. I was stating how like minded people are drawn together. In society we hear the terms like 'white middle class neighbourhood', or the blue collar area of town. These people have common interests and live in proximity to one another. I was trying to make a correlation between how people choose their forums, and society as a whole. I know there is not such defining borders.....but it is of some social psychological interest.
Well said. The old saying; "Birds of a feather flock together." is as true now as it was when whoever thought it up, thought it up.
Here, there be skeptics. This forum is pretty much my home base, excpet for the hertetological forums, where the only sketicism found is aimed at such things as bullshit snake stories.
I've recently signed on to Theologyweb, a forum that can get far more abusive to the atheist than we ever get to a visiting YEC. It's looking to be fun. I'll be ridigly polite and considerate no matter the abuse, and every remark I make will be researched and heavily documented. I've already made a couple of posts.
I'm also a regular at Internet Infidels, as are a fair number of us, but here is home, a relitivly small forum where everybody's pretty much laid back (there's some fulminating now and again, but, hell, that's just human nature. We all love to be outraged, once in a while).
So, ok. Virtually all of us oppose the 'war'(we do, don't we guys?). Why?
Because we actually look at the evidence, rather than automaticly accept the blather that comes down from an administration that was not elected in the constitutional, American process. That's what skeptics do. If the administration was correct and honorable in it's actions and statments, we'd back it all the way. Sadly, this last is not the case. There are skeptics here that are politically far to the right of my currently semi-pinko self, and they too, agree. They don't let smoke and mirrors of any sort get in the way of the search for truth.
Perhaps this is why skeptics are never popular with the general public. We are all too often an embarrassment to the power.
