Did anybody see this? Is this crap true?
quote: O'Reilly piece tonight that was quite disturbing Did anyone else see that piece on the University of Minnesota sponsering a book that advocates of child pedophilla. The thing won an award by the LA Times!!! What is that?? O'reilly was dead on when he said that Mein Komph (sp) probably had some good points too but does that mean it is worthy of academic approval? Unreal stuff......he won the argument easily as it was not a difficult argument to win.....the woman who was supporting the book looked like she was going to cry. Shame on the University of Minnesota and shame on the LA Times

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

It's just a distortion of the facts.
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/4/4/163050.shtml
Check the details and try utilizing Google. I swear, schools should be teaching classes on "How to search" so that people can find what they want easier. Anyway, the book is not about pedophilia. It is about "kids" having sex. Underage sex varies wildly in the USA and what is underage sex in one state is legal in another. basically, that entire quote is bullshit and it's just your usual O'Reilly distortion and ratings crap. Anything you hear about O'Reilly should be questioned.

You got that right. Only it's true for any and all of those talk show hosts. I have only heard of O'Reilly the last couple of months since his radio show got on air here in Los Angeles. Perhaps he was on before but on another station that I didn't know about. Forget about Bill O'Reilly though, there's another person who is worse. He gets many facts wrong and presents things only from his ultra conservitive point of view. This person is Sean Hannity, he's a true jerk. His followers who are mindless, idolize him. And he laps it up while aggrandizing himself. Funny that @ should mention ratings. I was just talking to someone today saying I didn't know why I listen to that Hannity idiot because he makes me to hyper, I finally have to shut him off. But the person said to me, remember it's only for ratings and show. They take an extreem point of view to get people angry and talking. Unfortunatly there are followers who look up to those people and belive what is said. |

Damn! Am I missing something, here?
Maybe I should get a new toob and hook up cable -- I've never seen these clowns in action and they sound interesting. I'll have to think about it.
Ok, I've thought. Nah, it ain't worth it.

I think you have it right with the second part of "all" should be questioned. These talk shows are just long opinion pieces and should be independantly verified. Whether it be Limbaugh, O'Rielly, or any other pundit who claims moral or intellectual superiority. |

Now, if we could only convince the people who listen with loyalty and faith to those people. The other thing that gets me it is when on the rare occasions someone with any clot comes on the show the host still won't let the other persons side be heard, although they claim they are giving them a chance to state their case. Did you hear when Robert Kennedy Jr. was on Hannity? After Kennedy was no longer on air, Hannity acts as if he 'won' the debate, for lack of a better word, it was more like baggering the man. But of course Hannity has to show off for his flock, when the other person isn't there to reply.

It's ok Filthy. I don't have cable either and refuse to pay for TV. I've only known about those people for the last few months. Apparently they have been on TV for a while, I don't know for how long. But if you have a radio.....you do at least live in the early part of the 20th centruy, don't you? You can hear them and don't have to look at them. KABC, the station I listen to, says you can get the station on the computer, as I'm sure you can with many other radio stations. Give it a try, it's worth a laugh or two. But be careful, don't get too angry, as I have, almost wanting to throw the radio. |

Yeah, I got a radio. Unfortunatly, it seems to work only on the classical music station and NPR. What's a poor redneck to do?

In all truth, I've been keeping track of the empty frothings of these idiots for some time, on line. I'm a regular visitor to DemocraticUnderground, Media Whores on line, Buzzflash, and other sites. As some of these are pretty far to the left, I sometimes have to sort of read between the lines to glean the actual story. Even so, O'Reilly, Hannity, et al, are shown to be anything but journalists. Having read some of their trasnscripts, I don't think I could sit through an actual broadcast.
You say, "Talking head," and I think guillotine.

Hey, thanks Filthy. I'll check out those sites. Since I've only known about those guys for the past few months (and didn't know how long they've been out there) I was beggining to think no one else but the moronic followers knew about them. Glad to see there ARE others who can see through their games. You are also right about trying to sit through a broadcast but don't worry, I'm getting angry enough for the both of us. So, best you control your Blood presure. |

Ok, I did go on one site that you mentioned (above) so far, something to do with the Democrats. While it's nice to see others complaining about the far right it reminded me of something I saw on TV last night. Sorry Filthy, I'll explain, it was some sort of a begginings of a the campaign for the Democratic candidate for president. There were several people putting forth their views and what they would do if elected. I can somewhat agree with a few of their points, one or two things Lieberman said for example but it was scary too. They are as out of control as the right wing. One guy was talking about health care for everyone as if it was a right. I just know if he got in, taxes would go through the roof. I forget his name now but it was unusual and if I heard it I'd know who he is. Boy! I hope he looses quickly. Oh!, he might have been from Ohio..... he was the mayor of a city I think. Very dangerous, if you ask me. |
