All rather ironic I thought Bush flying in considering his patchy military record.
From what I read over here, Bush needs the people to forget about the economy and rising unemployment. He may go in the same way as Poppy Bush and last only one term and some sanity may prevail. I'm sure Karl Rove and the rest will sell him to the masses and he will be back in power.
The Democrats over there seem to be in disarray as with the opposition Labor party over here. |
Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Well, I think they lied to us again in telling us that the carrier would be too far out at sea for a helicopter landing, and then, when it was revealed that it was only 30 miles off the California coast (easily in range of any helicopter!), they changed their tune again, and said Bush wanted to experience a carrier landing the way the pilots do. They said, "Oh, the carrier made much better time than we thought it would." As if they don't know where their ships are, or how fast and in which direction they're moving! Will they ever stop lying to us? I guess not since, after all, they are politicians, who only stop lying when their mouths are closed! Or maybe not even then, as they can still lie by proxy, like the god of the bible.
And I agree that the whole thing was grandstanding of the worst sort. Perhaps if Bush hadn't gone AWOL he could have done a little flying and carrier landing for himself! The rotten deserter! He should have been shot summarily, then, as would have anyone else without his daddies money and connections. |

Man Sen. Byrd can sometimes just downright freaking rule. Read between the lines here and "desk-bound president" slowly transforms into "deserting AWOL coward". hehe :> |

I don't think that we need to get ahead of ourselves. The lack of confirmation of Bush's whereabouts, and the lack of records showing that he completed his obligations to the ANG, does not in itself prove he was AWOL, or a desserter. However, with that said, I feel there is enough information to warrant an investigation. Plus, the more recent allegations of tampering with gov't documents to cover up Mr. Bush's military record is certainly fodder for another Ken Starr, just one that is less driven by ideology.
