Not that I am a T.V. fanatic, but I have been delighted this year to discover a few shows well worth my time and complete attention. While I like Law and Order, I dont get wierd if I miss it..but try these shows and see what you think. One, and my favorite is West Wing. I thought the Sopranos was the best show on T.V. until I saw West Wing. All I can say is WOW. Great writing, smart and fast. Good acting and wonderful subject matter. If you like Sci-fi..and you get the Sci-fi channel, try Farscape. Im not sure how to discribe it, except its fun and different. This is a good start. I dont have much time so Im rather selective about what I watch. I am more of a movie watcher, but try these shows and let me know what you think. Im sure you wont be sorry. Peny

Hey Peny, took you a while to get on here, ha ha. And of all the posts, you choose mine to answer 1st.

It's ME! Snk.
Anyway....I keep hearing people talk about that show 'The Sopranos' but I don't know what channel it's on. Don't know how to see it. Is it on 2,4,5,7,9,11,13, or 28? From the little I've heard about the story, it sounds like it's the Godfather. One of only 2 movies I've ever walked out on in my life. I hate that movie so I expect I wouldn't like The Sopranos either.
I taped a few shows of The West Wing because there was an actor I saw that I like who was on. Don't know if he's a regular. I haven't gotten around to watching those yet. The little bit I did see(not with the actor I like) looked boring. Sorry
Never heard of Farscape and don't get the Sci-Fi channel but if I get a chance I'll try to catch it. Want to invite me over, heh he.
Guess you never played Simpsons trivia with us in the room, ha ha.
How you been Peny?

If you watch Sci-Fi channel, does anyone here watch Lexx? It's been alternatly termed a cosmic freak show and the anti-star trek. Won't find much scientific accuracy here, or morals, but you will find the universe's biggest looser in charge of a ship that can destroy plannets. That's gotta count for something.

Oh yes, and a very hot escaped love slave looking for men to please her.

Well, I have seen Lexx and occasionally watch it. Its fun in a campy sort of way. But its not a show I would stay home for, and Farscape is. I either tape it or stay home to watch it..or sometimes both. Same with West Wing...although different kind of T.V. Im not sure if that makes me a sad case or not, but t.v. was so bad for such a long time..its nice to see some good stuff on. Cable shows have fewer restrictions and can go where network cannot. That is why a show needs to be exceptional to be as good as West Wing, and be on Network t.v. So, watch it and enjoy!!!

Ah, Lexx! Interesting show. I actually saw womens' nipples on it the other night, during a prison shower scene. That cable tv, getting bet...I mean worse all the time!

This was actually a show on Showtime called "Tales from a Parallel Universe" I believe. Then Sci-Fi picked it up, and touted is as a "Sci-Fi Channel Original Series". Don't quite understand that one...

Yes, it started as 4 movies created in Canada. Primarily shown in Canada and Germany. The movies are considered the first season. First one gathers the characters and introduces the prophecy about Kai destroying His Divine Shadow, ruler of the League of 20,000 worlds. They escape with the Lexx, the most powerful weapon of destruction in the two universes into the Dark Zone, the universe of evil, chaos and depravity.

Next two movies are interesting, but not essential. Fourth one is where they finaly defeat His Divine Shadow. Season 2 was a lot of fun. Individual episodes that usualy only hinted at the upcomming conflict with Mantrid untill late in the season. For the season finaly they destroyed the Light Universe. Ooops!

Season 3 had them trapped in orbit around two planets at war, Fire and Water. As the season progressed you figure out that these two worlds are actualy heaven and hell, of a sort. End of season the two planets got blown up, releasing all the spirits.

Free from the two planets they find another nearby planet, Earth. That is how the current season starts. Prince, former ruler of Fire, is on earth as the head of the department of Alcohal, Tobbaco, and Firearms, and he is spreading evil here too.

Oh, by the way, kiss pluto goodby. Seems that Stan got bored and felt we had one too many planets in this system.

As Kai would say, "I used to watch TV....before I died!"

But seriously,

Lexx is just about the only show I feel I need to watch every week. I can't wait to get the DVDs in my mailbox so that I can see the unedited version

So I guess you are all saying that I should pay more attention to Lexx. O.k. then, I will watch it tonight and let you all know what I think of it later..although, I have seen some of the episodes. I missed last season completely. Are any of you watching Farscape?

This isn't exactly the best time to leap into watching Lexx, but it's better than nothing. If you can, try to find the 5 original 2-hour movies. Last week was a treat for Red Dwarf fans. It had Craig Charles and Hattie Hatteridge in cameo roles.

I am moving this to general discussion.

Then talk away. I moved it here simply because it was not directly related to skepticism.

I dont know about this....Snake seems pretty skeptical about T.V. programs..but if its gonna turn into a talk about Sci-fi, maybe general discussion is o.k.
