I've seen 50s vintage porn, of course. In the '50s, it was every where, but not so slick. It showed up in playing cards, little comic books staring Popeye, Blondie, and so forth. Occasionally, an 8mm flick might make the rounds. All pretty pathetic. I've read that much of this has become high-dollar, collector's items. And I have none, alas.
Is Chick getting into retro-porn? If so, he's improving.

| I have quite a collection of Chick propaganda. A few years ago, somebody made a habit of putting a Chick publication or two under the windshield of my car almost every working day for a whole academic year. I never did catch the donor. My car was the only one so targeted. Most of it was creationism stuff, but I also got the entire "Alberto" series of anti-Catholic comic books. This is scary stuff, reviving whiggish, Know-Nothing, and even Cromwellian propaganda from past centuries, and re-packaging it with ripped off counterculture graphics. Jack also tosses in a few modern variations, like the "big computer" in the Vatican basement. This allegedly contained a vast database on "true Christians" so these can be wiped out when the time comes. |

| To give the devil his due, Chick started making claims about a massive level of sexual abuse in the RCC way back in the 70s, well before the mainstream media and the rest of society were prepared to take these allegations seriously. Some of the details in Alberto make it plausible, at least, that Chick and his informants were aware of actual cases, and not just guessing. |
