hahaha ok when they say "us" do they mean humans only..because then they ignore that we are not the only beings on this planet and in this universe
appart from that,it doen t seem to explain how they come to the conclusion : "the universe must have been created by a divine being just for us. " even if it was created by a divine being, isn t a little bit selfish and egoistic to say that it was made just for us???

lets have in mind, that a lot of things that r right for us to disappear, happen in the universe as well, for example the universe from the Big bang (if we accept this theory..if not, then from its beginning) tends to be orientated to its distinction..pretty much the same with that a human from the day he/she is born starts to get closer to his/her death.

A classic case of effect and cause.

We exist because the circumstances were right for our evolution. We are a result of the physical laws of the universe. We are not the cause of the physical laws.

All of this is a consequence of the begining physical laws of the universe. What are the odds of this happening? Could be a billion to one or it could be a 100% probability it would happen. It could be that there are 100 trillion universes with other physical properties that preclude the formation of life.

In other words the Wright brothers did not exist so that I could fly to my next meeting. I can fly to my next meeting because they existed. (I know of course that someone else would have built the first airplane, but hopefully you get my drift).

If I knew then what I know now then I would know more now than I know.

(hehehe), I have a small confession to make. This thread was something of a trap .

I was curious as to how many of us actually opened posted links. So, toward that end, I quoted a very mundane, "Seen it a thousand times -- yawn," paragraph from the second page of the site. The first page gives it it's context.

So, no-freakin'-body opened the link, and I suspect that many just passed it by as just more of the same, ol' shit.

GOTCHA!!

I read the first page but not all the way down to the bottom.
So I guess I was hooked, at least some.

When I was much younger, and newly "reborn in Christ" I played around a lot with numbers like that together with a friend (on my computer, since programming it made all calculations much easier).
After some tweaking we got both "Antichrist" and "Ronald Reagan" to score 666.

What conclusion did we draw from this game?
Since the Bible didn't give us any equations or algorithms that we could use to calculate numbers, how on earth would we know how to find the numbers?

Then we realized that my social security number had a '6' in the beginning, one '6' in the middle, and a '6' at the end.
At that point the conclusion could only be one:
Creating systems to use in order to reckon the number of the beast is just a stupid waste of time, since any construct will give the answers we want if we tweak the algorithm enough.

Edit:
Filthy, you're not the Antichrist. I am. I submit my social sequrity number as evidense.

Ah no, friend Doc. It is I who am the Anti-Christ. When I was racing the flying mile (I held 2 records in the East Coast Timing Assocation. Dunno if they're stiil good), my number was 666. I still have the motorcycle to prove it!

Which makes about as much sense as Bible Numerology. I've read some about it. It's a great exercize for those with way too much time to murder. You can 'prove' 'most anything with it, if your imagination is in good, working order. I've got an End of the World link somewhere that touches on it. I'll see if I can find it. It's a fun read.

Actually, filthy, I wrote out a response of sorts, and then said, "hey, wait a minute - what else is the author saying?" So, I clicked on the link, and, not finding anything like I expected to find, searched for the text "univ" on the page. Nothing like your quote, so maybe it was on the second page. Yup, there it is. And the author was saying - in those two paragraphs - pretty much what I was typing. So I trashed my reply and moved on.

In short, I have no idea what the real point of that site is, but I agree with the two paragraphs starting with the one you quoted.
