Breaking news, apparently Jessica Lynch was raped. Bill O'Rielly is shocked and can't believe it.......
I pray for her that it didn't happen, but with a Jessica Lynch book due out next week, should I be skeptical.....you bet
Selective amnesia maybe??????
See it unfold and you decide......

Skeptical indeed!
There has been so much empty retoric surrounding this unfortunate woman that it's hard to know what the truth really is.
It has been my expreience that the more shouting I hear, the less substance I find.

Substitute her name with almost anyone who's been in the news, on a TV show, in the public in any way and you now have the reason I haven't listened to the news for years. Don't you get it, people.....It's all hype!!! Someone's always in it for a 'buck', one way or another. Everytime it coinsides with a 'Made for TV movie' or a book deal. Besides that, most of the stories in the 'news' aren't really newsworthy anyway. There's a murder trial going on right now in California, don't know if anyone else where knows about it but they think a guy killed his wife and put the body in the ocean. Who the hell cares? Why is the media making such a big deal about it. Think! Does it really concern you or help change your life in any way? Unless you are planning to kill your wife, I guess! What really is news? What really is important to know about? Stories like that IMO aren't really news. Especially when they drag them out jabbering on and on about the same old details. What I'd really like to know is why are 'they' are putting stories like that out to the public in the 1st place. Could it be, just a thought mind you, could it be that there are more important things, oh, like, what the congress is doing that DOES affect our lives and they don't want us to know? |

One of the reasons women often don't report rapes is because people often don't believe them. Perhaps because I'm a woman, I default to the position of believing the woman. Blame the estrogen circulating in my system.
IMO, it's none of our business whether or not she was raped. And I agree with Snake about the media. I long for the days of real journalism. *sigh* |

"Rape" in sneer quotes? Fuck you and the BBC both, Gezzam, alcohol obsessed bigot and Goebbels-inspired Arab whorehouse, respectively. Go kiss Michael Moore's fat ass (again) while you're at it, I understand he's some kind of god to the Hate-America conformists down there in Drunkistan; er, Oz; your infallible authority on all things American. You sound like North Koreans praising Kim Jong Il when you talk about Moore, the difference being that they don't have a choice and you do. Yet you call yourselves skeptics. That's the real joke here, Mr. terrorist ass-kisser. Fuck you and fuck this stupid website, and fuck that lying shithead and nazi hypocrite Gorgo, while you're at it. What? Can't take a joke? At least someone thinks I'm sexy.
I don't know enough about it to say I would doubt someone who says she's raped. I don't know enough about it to say anything at all, but I am glad that someone loves me. |

What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a pink shirt before?

Ahh, Jimmy my angry little American.....such vitriol. Are you still upset about being called a Seppo? Well, let's add dickhead to the list.
quote: "Rape" in sneer quotes?
I did not put the quotes there, if you bothered to notice you would have realised I cut and pasted them from the headline of the article.
If you also hadn't noticed, this is a skeptics site and the story mentioned was one in a long line about this unfortunate girl. We have had the press and the pentagon spin us so many lies about this particular episode that my point was that we should be skeptical about what we hear about this girl.

Alcohol obsessed bigot.....now you got me right on the alcohol obsessed part, because I fucking love a beer, but the bigot? Now Jimmy, you don't know mw from a bar of soap but in this post and previous serves you gave me you were the one who sounded more bigoted than I. If you knew me then you would know my opinion on our governments treatment of refugee's and you would also be aware of my support of the indigenous people of this country who have been terribly treated for over 200 years. Bigot....indeed.

Have you seen the size of that arse????? At least it wouldn't be hard to kiss it if I were that way inclined……not that there's anything wrong with that.

What have you got about kissing arses? Freudian slip maybe?

You don't have to come here, simple as that. You and your buddy Dubya prattle on and on about freedom and the likes, it strikes me odd when someone uses those freedoms to state an opinion that differs from yours you speak like you were raised in the gutter and insult those who dare to oppose you.

Much as I hate to abandon all of the above glorious humor...
Well, let's face it. Rape is an integral part of War. - Lynch was a blonde beauty in a land of dark-haired, swarthy (Iraqi) soldiers. If nothing else, in the absolute chaos of War, what infantry private could resist taking a peek at what lie in her "private" regions (of the crotch)?
- More: In that part of the world (--next to Turkey; in the old Ottoman Empire. Remember Lawrence of Arabia?--), anal sex (anal rape, whatever the genders involved) is not uncommon.
- And finally, War, particularily infantry action, is sort of "exciting" and excitment almost always leads to arrousal (--why else take one's girlfriend to scary movies? Why drive girlfriend very fast? Sex, sex, sex.)
IF the rape happened, no one should be surprised.
Now to Tim's Yahoo interview:quote: "The records also show that she was a victim of anal sexual assault," the authorized biography said. "The records do not tell whether her captors assaulted her almost lifeless, broken body after she was lifted from the wreckage, or if they assaulted her and then broke her bones into splinters until she was almost dead," the book said.
Now, if this doesn't qualify as bombastic propaganda I don't know what does. GAG!
Now, then, from gezzam's BBC story we get this gem:quote: Rick Bragg, who wrote the book, is also no stranger to controversy. He recently resigned from the New York Times newspaper after allegations his stories relied too heavily on the work of a freelance journalist.
Since Lynch herself doesn't remember anything until on the treatment table and since doctors are in the healing business (rather than the mahem and killing business), in the absence of blatant, overt evidence it is not surprising that he said what he did.
As to her clothes being in good order: Soldiers taking a look at what a blonde beauty's privates look like would almost certainly put everything back in good order -- they would probably be in "deep sh*t" if they had been caught by their own higher ups and it's not worth even talking about what would have happened if they had been caught by an American infantry unit!
Finally as to the "propaganda spin" proposed for the rescue team: Nobody complains if a SWAT team uses exceptionally violent means when entering a hostage-holding place -- yet while THAT place is in the hands of an enemy, EVERYTHING around it is in the hands of friendlies. In War the opposite is true: The building is, as with the SWAT action, in enemy hands; but so is ALL of the surounding territory. Getting in is just Step 1; when it comes to getting out it is through (potentially) hostile territory. Getting in is not fun; securing the site is not fun; and getting out is not fun. A SWAT rescue is a piece of cake compared to a military rescue -- which can be unspeakably grim. |

Thank you Computer Org for a sensible reply. I am retired from the military, and we told what to expect if ever captured. Especially if captured in a country that has little or no regard for human life (pick your favourite middle eastern country here) She was knocked senseless and maybe raped. I admired her because she's disputing the Pentgon's "hero" spin. She always takes care to mention the others who were with her. Was she raped? I dunno. If I was knocked unconscious in an Arab country and later saw I'd been raped in my medical report, I'd be upset, but not really surprised. |

What does "Seppo" mean anyway? When I was in first grade people in school always used that word as a degrading comment. But I don't think anyone really knew what it meant. Or perhaps I was the only one who didn't know. And with the risk of being called "seppo", I didn't ask what it meant.
So, please, can someone enlighten me? |
