Mike, the best advice you can hope for here is "talk to a lawyer who is familiar with your local employment laws."
In my opinion (uninformed about all the particulars of your case), you shouldn't want a job which requires a voice-stress analysis as part of the pre-employment testing, since such tests are unreliable and show a willingness of your prospective employer to believe in things which have little or no evidenciary support. So if a stapler comes up missing, and someone names you as the thief, you'd probably have little job security, regardless of ideals like "due process."
So, the best advice I could give would be along the lines of suggesting that you find another job (in the private sector, or with the State or Federal governments), and then start a campaign to eliminate voice-stress tests as a requirement for county employment, so that others who might want a county job don't run into the same nonsense you did.
So long as your local laws say that such tests are okay, and no court cases contest that, you probably don't have a legal leg to stand on. But, since I'm not a lawyer practicing in your state, you should talk to a lawyer who is practicing in your state about the whole situation before deciding on a course of action. |
