Sorry, can't help you there. Snake/dragon is also often used as a referral to an 'evil' power, or a counterforce. There are some more passenges were 'dragon' is used to refer to chaos (according to liberal christians anyway), as opposed to God who creates order. I also don't know whether the devil as a fallen angel is an official protestant doctrine. I know it's origins are catholic, but how (for example) conservative protestant christians view this matter is not clear to me. My opinion is that the whole christian doctrine surrounding the devil is somewhat sketchy anyway. As far as I know, in the Old Testament the devil acts more as an accuser of mankind, and thus is more closely related to God. Only in the New Testament does he really emerge in the way we know him. |
