Check out this dandy from KOMO TV News in Seattle:
Notice how KOMO TV News distorts this vague story? They have no story besides a person arriving from China having a respiritory issue but they twist it into a possible SARS case just to make sure they have a potential scoop and manage to scare everyone in the area.
What they know is NOTHING of the sort. KOMO TV News has deliberately mislead the public for a cheap shot. What should be a professional newsroom turns out to have all the professionalism of the Weekly World News. One has to wonder what weak excuses these "world class" editors can offer to a frightened community while they dig for ratings and ignore their responsibilities as a source for news.
I would have thought that this sort of local news would come from a source like KPCQ 13(The local FOX affiliate) but KOMO TV News didn't want them to have the Seattle metropolitan area crown for poor news reporting. So they scooped them by reporting a story they somewhat admit is unlikely. What are you supposed to think when your news source is so pathetic? I am just sitting here shaking my head wondering what we'll be told next in the name of news reporting. I am sure that KOMO TV News will be there to report it before they are sure wether or not it's true.

News on the toob in general sucks. Ratings are everything and afterward, the public be damned. I quit bothering with it not long after I got on-line and learned to find my way around. And then my idiot box crapped out, not to be replaced for several years; I never felt the loss.
About a year before I had my left hip replaced, my kids and sons-in-law hounded me into a new toob. Now, I can watch The Simpsons, NASCAR, the WWE, and some other eddycashunal stuff. As I have a piss-poor antenna, I can't get PBS. I plug the occasional flick into a DVD / tape player and have a pretty good collection of class vidios, the Red Dwarf series, for example. And that's about it. No tv news is excellent news, and I'm still pretty much current with what's going on, or at least as current as I want to be.
I strongly reccommend that everybody should shine the blathering heads on for a while. Their stations might clean up their acts when they have to deal with irate sponsers.

Don't quite have all of them. I've been ordering them onesy-twosy from amazon as I can afford them. I'm gettin' there.
I also have 1/2 of the Are You Being Served series, as well as the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy on tape, plus the books.

If I ever replace my tapes with DVD's you can have my VHS copies if you want. But for now check your library system. I can order a wide variety of shows and movies to check out and it's completely free.
