You're description of the telepathic organization controlling the Earth - of which you are a powerful member - is chillingly convincing. You had me going for a moment.

Clearly these discussions about mind control and direct mental deception are pointless. (If you're doing in for anything beyond simple entertainment ). You might as well be discussing the existance - or not - of God.

It's like trying to prove that anyone else in the world actually exists outside yourself. How can you prove that you yourself are not God and the only independent entity in the universe? Perhaps you're so freaking lonely, your all powerful mind has conjured the rest of us up just to keep you company. But in fact, we're all pieces of you. You all are alone. Totally alone.
Once you posit the existence of something or someone with the capability of purposefully changing a person's perceptions - whether that thing is demonic possession, telepathy, God, government mind-control lasers, etc. - there are only two courses of thought to take if you assume you are involved:

1) It's being done to you. If allowed to run free, this idea will lead to nothing but paranoia.

2) It's being done by you. This would obviously lead to megalomania.

Either way, the real solution is to take the proposition further - to assume that you or the mysterious "them" can control thought on a moment-by-moment basis:

1) If "they" are doing things to you, "they" can also make you think that "they" aren't doing things to you, or "they" can make you think that "they" are doing things to you, just to drive you crazy and discredit you.

2) If you've got the power, try to use it. On everything. It should quickly be obvious that you can't do squat in any meaningful way.

In either case, when taken to the extreme, it should quickly become clear that it is impossible to discriminate between "the real world" and "the world 'they' (or you) want you (or them) to see." And if they are equivalent, mind-control powers become an extraneous entity, and get hacked away with Occam's Razor.

Of course, there are some very sick people out there, who are clinically paranoid or suffer from megalomania due to biological problems. Taking things to extremes with them will not help them overcome their diseases. Possibly the opposite. This post isn't intended to make light of their lot, but only to point out the solution to these sorts of problems to healthy people here.

Have you seen "Vanilla Sky?" I thought it was an excellant movie and highly recommend it if you have not. In any case, there's a scene in the movie where the protagonist does just what you describe above. He tries to use this power to shape reality around him. And to his astonishment, and to yours, as this is a huge turn in the movie, it works.
