So they are going to ban you for my vulgarity posted on an entirely different web site?
Sorry, Ricky, I didn't mean to affect you, but I find it impossible to understand how they consider you guilty by association. I'd delete my post but I guess the damage is done. Plus there isn't anything I posted that I want to take back. Their actions are outrageous, and if anything I'm more angry now then when I first posted. He wrote "who refer to hannah as a "b"-word just because she basically refuted some of their evidence." No, I didn't. I called her a bitch because she was snippy, condescending, and combative. She also offered nothing in the way of "evidence," (which was the point of these posts), yet he somehow still insists that we are all "sore losers" for not taking her at her word that we've all been mysteriously "refuted."
That site lists itself as "A Safe Place for Christians and Creationists." It still is. What I say here doesn't affect them. (Unless of course they decide to post a link to this thread in their own forums, say.) It also shows that they read this thread regularly and are quite aware that you've been unable to follow up on their claims or verify anything they've said. That they don't comment on. Someone uses a curse word? Ho, ban 'em!
Bottom line, you threaten them. They are cowards who cannot stand to have their beliefs challenged and that is evidenced in how they run their forums. Personally, I think they are using this as a thinly veiled excuse to disassociate themselves from you. But I still feel guilty about being the reason, and for that I'm sorry.

I see their lashing out as a (possibly subconcious) means to keep the forum free of critical thinkers. What does "pwned" mean? They seem to enjoy "pwn" evolutionists. |

There's nothing subconscious about the way they filter out dissenters. They regularly delete, edit, or ban people or passages at their whimsy, all under the banner of "protecting the integrity" of their forums.
"Pwned" is gamer slang, I think originating in First Person Shooter games. (like Doom, Quake, etc.) It's a mispelling of "Owned" (note the proximity of the two keys on the keyboard), and would be used in the sense of being beaten badly: "Man, you just got totally owned." The mispelled version has taken on a life of its own, and is part of the "L33t" (or elite) lexicon of gamer terminology and shorthand.
An example sentence would be: "stfu n00b u got pwned kthnxby." The majority of gamers consider this sort of speech lowbrow and juvenile.

So their use of "pwned" speaks volumes of who they are. |

And to further insulate themselves, certain folders of their forums now require one to log on just to view them. Didn't seem to be that way last night.
Edited to add: I should have read the previous page first, I suppose. And also to add that by "insulate," I do indeed mean that they're trying to protect themselves from the "horrible" outside world which doesn't agree with them. Between the bannings and the lock-out, all they'll wind up with is a bunch of yes-men over there, with no need for thought at all ("critical" or not). They are creating a "people filter" to sift out all but themselves. How many times has this sort of thing happened - with bad results - on the international scene throughout history? |

So do their bios. Moderator kevkev aka the "Learned One" (who bit kil's head off) has this listed under interests: "Pumping Iron, having sex."

Furthermore, Kevkev got banned on christianforums for posing as an atheist (without much success apparently). Dubble standard much? |

Well, it looks like you have to register on their forums to even read them now.... something I have no intention of doing.
They have demonstrated clearly that they have no interest in a real debate or discussion.
They are now calling for banning because of what people have posted ON OTHER SITES? I'm sure I'd be banned in no time flat....

Ah yes, the banning from a creationist site; the Badge of Honor. Bah! It's too easy. All you have to do post fact, stick to it, and shoot down the bullshit.
I do wish that a few of the more contentious and certain of these myth-peddlers would evolve (hehe) a big enough set of marbles to bring it here. Aside from verlch, we haven't had a good scrap in too long a time. I grow bored.

Or have encountered them previously. I encountered tkster before on christianforums. I was banned from his forum before I even had the chance to post anything. I thought it was because of my doing something wrong that I wasn't able to get in, so I started posting under a slightly different name. It took me exactly two posts to get banned. There's no honor in getting banned from a creationist forum, it is really much too easy. I didn't even have to get mean. |

You don't even have to do that much... They (Rapture Ready)banned me for simply saying I had a dream in which the current US President was the Anti-Christ...
They didn't even bother to ask if I thought it was a nightmare. If they had, perhaps I would have said "I think I'm still having it" |

Here is a copy of a pm I sent tkster. It is in response to the reasons he shut down the evolution/creation debate folder and a discussion of what to do next. I couldn't respond on the thread because everything is locked, so I pm'd him. Not only did I receive no response, but my pm out box and sent box has been purged. I am still not punted, however...
quote: tkster: 1. Evolutionists were not listening to answers or pretending that they didn't receive an answer. 2. Evolutionists would use appeals to ignorance, like "I don't understand" even though it was pretty clear. 3. Evolutionists broke quite a few rules; when Kevin asked not to debate they did so anyway, and ignored what Kevin asked. 4. Evolutionists complained about their topics getting off, but then turned around and did it themselves. 5. Evolutionists began starting way too many topics trying to "overwhelm" their opponents. This is a typical tactic, and it won't work here. Stick with one topic at a time.
1. Could it not be that they didn't accept the answer or sought clarification? 2. Clear to whom? To assume that an answer is clear just because it is stated might be unreasonable. 3. I was accused of debating and told to "get lost" because I pointed out a mistake in one thread. Frankly, I was shocked by that since it was my first post here and I was not debating for evolution. 4. Are the rules applied equally? Since many of the evolutionist posts were deleted when I got here, I am in the dark about this... 5. I agree that starting topics willy nilly does not serve the dialog. But again, was it just the evolutionists?
I don't mean this post to be hostile in anyway. But it strikes me as weird that only evolutionists are guilty of these offenses as you seem to imply. And in the case of number's one and two, are you saying that once a reply has been made to an evolutionists assertion there is no room for rebuttal or to seek clarification?
I'm sure you get your share of trolls and rude people who refuse to follow the rules. Comes with the turf. And I understand that this is a creationist/Christian site and you don't want to spend your time justifying your beliefs which should be respected. But the very nature of a scientific debate is such that certain questions must be considered that may cause temperatures to rise on both sides. And the list above only takes evolutionists to task. When I posted my objection to the way a poll was worded I received an extremely rude reply. And, while I was not punted, neither was the person who took offense at my pointing out a mistake rebuked in any way for his rudeness. Could I get away with that?
All bias's not withstanding, it is my hope is that you are making every attempt to be even handed or will do so in the future. Otherwise, there can be no dialog...

Until yesterday I couldn't access the Skeptic Times Forum from work. Our firewall was blocking the site because of "questionable content".
