There have been so many Atlantis 'discoveries' that I think we should put up a 'Who Gives a Rat's Ass' folder.

At any rate, the latest silliness states that Ireland is a great candidate for the mythical isle.

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Atlantis, the legendary island nation over whose existence controversy has raged for thousands of years, was actually Ireland, according to a new theory by a Swedish scientist.

It all looks good in print, but I really must ask; as Ireland has been the subject of a lot of archeological projects, how come exactly zero artifacts have been discovered supporting the hypothesis speculation? There's been some Norseman stuff along with the usual, peasant hearths and middens, but nothing that might be described as from an alledged, advanced Atlantian civilization.

Methinks the Swede has kissed the Blarny Stone.

Now, now. Atlantis is a tactically important place. After all, according to the Weekly World News, Bush is looking at invading it. And everyone knows the accuracy of that fine publication.

(For those of you who are visiting, the preceding was sarcasm wrapped around a WWN story.)
