Bush's credibility gap....

Three links to add fuel to the fire.... as I know most of you here are already voting Kerry, but maybe some undecided voter (I can't comprehend why anyone would be undecided in this election, at this point) will read and be swayed to the side of reason.

Nothing new on this one since 2003, but still usefull.

This is more funny than serious, but it still shows how intelligent our President is:

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

So now I'm trying to remember when the term "credibility gap" first became part of our political vocabulary, and my misfiring memory isn't doing very well.

My hunch is that I first heard it around Nixon's time, but darned if I can be sure. I probably killed those brain cells a long time ago.

Anybody have any better memories than I of when they first heard it?

At this point, anyone 'undecided' in this election will make no difference at all. S/he is too badly brain-damaged to find the way to the polls or even to remember that there is an election happening come Nov. I blame it all on modern pop music, burgers at McDs, and Haley's comet.

I'm pretty sure that the term 'credibility gap' did indeed show up with Nixon. Another buzz word(s) that have come to mean little due to overuse.

Bush has no 'credibility gap' because as far as I can tell, he has no origional thoughts beyond, 'I want.'

History. Haley's Comet has been blamed for all sorts of things. It has been, and still is among the hysterical, one of the worlds great harbingers of doom.

D'ya remember, some years ago, when a group of dingbats commited suicide in the belief that a space ship hidden in the tail of a comet (I've forgotten it's name) would pick them up and carry them off to some nirvana or other? :roll eyes:

I just decided to gat a piece of the action.

Hale-Bopp. That was one strange cult. Mostly computer geeks who designed web pages and wore brand new Nike shoes. It was after reading about those people that I realized no beliefs are so stupid that you can't find at least some people willing to die over them.

That was 7 years ago so I was 11. Wasn't too much into learning about cults back then. Hehe. So I can't say I do remember it.

Of course; Hale-Bopp. Kind of a neat name, isn't it? But I couldn't bring it to mind at all. Thanks!

They were indeed weird, but not much farther out than many and perhaps less than some. It would not suprise me to see more of the same with the arrival of our next, celestial visitor. What is hard to understand is that they think of this as logical, if not normal, behavior.

It's gotta be them damn' burgers and the music (shudder) that drives them, with due ceremony, to the comets. This doesn't take into account the free-lancers that for who knows what reason, off themselves at the same time.

Hmmm...Does Bush posess enough credibility to warrant a gap? Or, am I being unfair?

Ricky! I heard about that clip but that was the first time I actually saw it. Ron and Fez are two guys who do a local radio show near me and I think they're hilarious. They were talking about this clip and how George W. just keeps repeating the word "sovereign" without ever really making any sense.

They said it was like when you were forced to give a report in the fifth grade on a book you've never read and so you just would try to ramble and bluff you're way through it. "Um...the symbolism of this book...ah...is comprised of symbols...uh...which is reflective of the overall symbology...." Ah, christ they had me laughing.

Thanks for those links. I may make use of them at a certain other site that seems to blindly demonize Kerry and almost uncritically supports Bush. Though I can image what'll happen to me if I post links with the word "democrat" in them over there...

Anyway, here is the quote:

Note: this URL is in "Members Only section"

There is a "thumbs up" beside the thread title of "Kerry Lied". Make of that what you will...
quote:
Kerry Lied

Maximize your screen...turn on your sound. This will take a little bit to download if you don't have DSL...but definitely worth the wait. Be sure to watch until the end...lasts a little over two minutes...this will bring you to your knees and to tears....

God Bless America....and may G. W. BUSH WIN THIS ELECTION, if he doesn't God help us all! Start praying!

<~~This is the important link...anyone know anything about it?

Edit: Well, I've posted...So far, no one's reacted to what I've said yet, but the post after mine creeps me out:

quote:
Lord, Please expose this man to the entire country for what he really is and really about. Open eyes and hearts to the truth about John Kerry. Please protect President Bush and give him your perfect peace. Please put your mighty hand over our upcoming elections and give us a righteous minded president and most of all, your will be done.

In Jesus name,

Amen

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Creepy indeed. This one is yet another drooling adulator of Falwell and Robertson, and maybe even Fred Phelps. Creepiness goes with the territory as does a fair measure of hypocritcy. Not to mention, but I will, intellectual blindness.

Or perhaps we're mistaken. Perhaps he means that Bush should have the Perfect Peace of residing in the comatose wing of an upscale lunatic asylum. I'll go along with that.

Bush has no 'credibility gap' with these people because they never take the time to examine anything; never show any critical interest beyond how someone or something meshs with their version of religious dogma.

Kerry's gap with them, on the other hand, is huge for exactly the same, pathetic reason.

Yeah. I got creeped out worse, though, by a person I heard on the radio who said we should ignore what the people want, and instead vote for what (and presumably who) God wants. While the poster you quoted implies that, the person I heard stated it explicitly and unashamedly. It was absolutely terrifying.
