That says it all. If they take Mr. Hovind as a reliable source then they might as well use Dr. Suess to support a young earth. What really scares me is that Mr. Hovind claims to have been a high school science teacher. I would have pulled my kid out of that class in the blink of an eye.

Yeah, he actually was, for some 15 years. If I remember right, it was a general course such as a freshman might be taught. I would imagine that the school curriclum put a crimp in his evangelizing.

I haven't read the hows and whys of how he got out of teaching. Getting fired for the aforementioned evangelizing might be a possibility. Or maybe he was still reasonably sane and took 15 years to rock him off the deep end and into the bullshit business.

And the real pity is that if he wasn't so committed to, well, fakery and outright fraud, he'd probably make a fine teacher. He is very charming and personable, I've read, and has an incomparable gift of gab. Unless, that is, if he's your landlord........

I feel this thread should get bumped, for no other reason than the great "article" Peptide put together.
For those who are new, here's a short summary behind this thread:

This was regarding a debate on a Pro-Christian discussion board called Skeptic Times. It was run by a journalism student at a Texas university, known on this board as tkster.
The creation/evolution debate was heated so he closed the cre/evo section of the forum and set up a time limited moderated debate consisting of opening statement from both sides and one rebuttal from both sides. One member were selected to represent each side.
Peptide consulted SFN and the opening post in this thread became the opening statement of the debate.

Apparently it was overwhelming, because Skeptic Times member jimi, selected to represent the creation side, bailed the debate and left without making his rebuttal.

A while later the Skeptic Times forum was struck by a php-virus that totalled the site, and tkster threw in the towel on it. Perhaps he is still running the e-mail newsletter with the same name as the forum, I don't know.
tkster drops in on SFN from time to time, and the latest news I heard about his faith is that he stated he had abandoned Christianity, poor design being a major contributing factor.
