One of the reasons I decided to give up on religion especially the Christian religion is all their talk of the existence of demonic possessions is all their other paranormal nonsense. That position does not appear to be changing as I picked up a local newspaper while traveling through Ballarat and the way from Adelaide to Melbourne. It read as the following:
quote:

Scenario: you hear that bump in the night. You feel that strange sensation that “someone else” is around. Things mysteriously start to move in the house.

You don't want to admit it, but you may have a ghostly presence in you house.

Where do you turn for help?

While some are happy to live with their “ghost”, others have to call med, clairvoyants or priests to analyses or solve the problem.

Both the Anglican and Catholic churches in Ballarat have their own “ghost busters”

A team of three priests and psychologists from the Anglican Church study cases referred to them by parishioners.

The Anglican Church's method is to hold a house blessing.

However exorcisms have also been held.

The Catholic Church also has particular in the diocese who examine hauntings and spirits.

Many believe the high level of paranormal activity in Ballarat can be traced back to the violence of the gold rush days.
