I don't know if it's a regional thing or what, but lots of people around here paint over the "TO" and "TA" on the tailgate of their Toyota pickup trucks, leaving "YO". Been seeing that for years. Don't know if there's a deeper meaning to it.

Indeed! Ya gotta love it even though it means only 'YO.'

As the letters are decals, they are removed with a hair dryer rather than painted over (except by the unhip).

Don't I know an incredable amount of utterly useless shit? I'm really not sure if a dustbin mind is an advantage or not.

Thought I'd resurect an old thread (yesterday WAS Easter, after all, and this is as close to resurrection as we're gonna get!)I recently ran across bloody peasant, whose name comes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and that started me wondering about other's names, etc.

My name comes from a song by Rush (any connection there, Starman?) called (appropriately) "Sweet Miracle". After the drummer lost his wife and his only child within ten months of each other, he had to piece his life back together. The song was written as a chronicle of that time and as a thanks to his new wife.

"Sweet Miracle"

I wasn't walking on water
I was standing on a reef
When the tide came in
Swept beneath the surface
Lost without a trace
No hope at all
No hope at all

Oh, sweet miracle
Oh, sweet miracle
Of life

I wasn't walking with angels
I was talking to myself
Rising up to the surface
Raging against the night
Starless night

Oh, sweet miracle
Love's sweet miracle
Oh, sweet miracle
Of life

I wasn't praying for magic
I was hiding in plain sight
Rising up from the surface
To fly into the light

It fits many circumstances in my life...and is a song of hope...

So, for all of you who haven't shared, what's your story?

Remarkable claims require remarkable proof.

Thanks for sharing, Sweet M. Indeed, I've noticed a few new "faces" here at SFN that are starting to post regularly. (Perhaps some were even lurkers who were reading this thread!) I'm sure all of us here would love to hear how some of these new user names came about!

Well guess I was an easy spot, but it kinda started at my last place of work where I was the recalcitrant developer always rebelling and causing problems with the powers that be >:-D.

We had a small IRC setup for the developers and were oft to quote Monty Python there. One of the devs there posted a daily word of the day, and one day the word was recalcitrant which everyone for some reason >:-D quickly applied to me. Finally at one point the head architect screamed at me, "Do you have to disagree with everything I say you damn recalcitrant bloody peasant" and from there forth the name has stuck and has become my moniker.

I also sympathize greatly with Dennis' diplomatic views >:-D, who elected you king, some watery tart slinging scimitars is no basis for a government >:-D

Cheers,
BP

Thanks, Dave...you are definitely an info junkie....

And BP, being the Recalcitrant One is an honorable position!!! Do you think that our current election sytem, complete with Media Circus, is much more wise than having a moistened bink thrownig a sword?

My user name is nothing more than the utterance of a surfer dude. I absolutely loath this user name, it is an albatros that I have saddled myself with.

I changed name from Mabuse in another forum in order to not get mixed up with someone else. During a transition-time the title (in you case SFN regular) was changed to "formerly Mabuse" so everyone knew about the change.
