I imagine it is what the Pagans felt like long ago...
Maybe during the burning times..
Maybe when pagan rituals were transformed into Christian Rituals..
Thank You Constantine.....
But Then that is what happens when one society gets absorbed or raped and pillaged to put it bluntly into another...
What I have been trying to say a numerous of times throughout numerous threads is no matter what God you call it the forces... the phenomenon... Exsits..
i.e. Jesus=Mithras=Sun

No, Storm: the phenomenon of "people believe in god(s)" exists, but that doesn't mean that any god exists. There is no "god phenomenon" that anyone has been able to demonstrate, just a "belief in god phenomenon" which is quite abundant.

Which leads to the question: if the first people who put God forth didn't have any evidence, then how did they know that God existed?

And if they didn't know, then all it is, is wild speculation.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Storm, please quite playing the language game. Here has basically been our conversations with you for the past few weeks:

Storm: What do you guys think about ghosts?
Us: There isn't any evidence for them.
Storm: How do you define ghosts?
Us: A ghost is.......
Storm: What if a ghost isn't that?
Us: How do you define ghost?

Storm: Go read it in a book.
...or...
Storm: A ghost is "ghost-like"

When we use a word, it is safe to assume we are going off the most used definition of the word unless we specifically say that we aren't. If you need to know how God is defined, check here:

http://dictionary.reference.com/

Or more specifically the one for God and phenomenon.

So god phenomenon is:

A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions.

or:

A being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people, especially a male deity thought to control some part of nature or reality.

with:

An occurrence, circumstance, or fact that is perceptible by the senses.

Love the way you put that all together. That is exactly what I am talking about. Ricky I am here to make you think, contemplate, not to spell everything out for you
So the phenomenon is sensed and then we interput it as god we name it that...
Sun=Mithras=Jesus
Strength=Thor

Quite odd, Storm, because I was trying to spell it all out for you.

quote:

So the phenomenon is sensed and then we interput it as god we name it that...
Sun=Mithras=Jesus
Strength=Thor

If you wish to say that the Sun:

often Sun A star that is the basis of the solar system and that sustains life on Earth, being the source of heat and light. It has a mean distance from Earth of about 150 million kilometers (93 million miles) a diameter of approximately 1,390,000 kilometers (864,000 miles) and a mass about 330,000 times that of Earth.

is the same as Jesus:

A teacher and prophet whose life and teachings form the basis of Christianity. Christians believe Jesus to be Son of God and the Christ.

When using normal definitions, then no, you are wrong.

Then define what you mean by "Sun" and "Jesus" (as well as all the other).

If you don't use normal definitions but say the words without defining them, how are we supposed to know what you mean?

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

No, some men observed some phenomenon (lightning, for example) and said it was caused by gods. The phenomena themselves are not the alleged gods, just the effects of gods which are never observed directly.

You're not making people think, Storm. If you want to make me think, present some solid evidence of some phenomenon not being due to some natural process or another. That you think you're making people think, and feel a need to talk about your education, tells the armchair psychologist in me that you're both arrogant and needy. Whether you're lecturing to an SRO crowd, or yapping on a web forum, your arrogance makes you think you've got the ability to open people's minds, and your neediness makes you deny any failure to do so.
