Nothing new in the latest tract. It's the "successfull person decide to ignore christian warnings, dies and gets screwed by Jesus big time" all over again.
Maybe Jack should try an other religion for a while to get more inspiration.
Notice, by the way, the subtle bigotry Jack uses. The young driver's wife-- Kim Lee, Jesus tells us, is Asian. And of course, for Jack, Asians have to be into crazy religions-- note panel where she says "JJ's not toerant of other religions", and when he tells JJ "my wife believes in reincarnation." Instead of a plain ol' whate bread atheists, Jack's making a point that strange Orientals won't get to heaven either, even with their mystic religions!
And, were Jesus ever to say to me "depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels," I'd happily tell Jesus to go fuck himself and his fucking "father." But tragically, since there is no Jesus, I won't get the chance...
As a NASCAR fan, I've really got to object to this bit of tripe.
Chick - JJ Reynolds - The Eliminator NASCAR - Dale Earnhardt - The Intimadator Chick - The California Kid NASCAR - Jeff Gordon from California, possibly the single Adam Petty
Deaths in racing in the National circuits viewed as routine or common. Since Big E's Death in 2002 and Adam Petty's death, NASCAR has instituted several safety upgrades which have severely increased driver survivability of horrendous looking wrecks. Such as a few end over end flips by Steve Park and Ryan Newman as well as some freakish accidents which clove one race car in half at Nashville. (The driver unbuckled and stood up uninjured from his destroyed race car.) Big E's death was mostly due to a seat belt improperly installed which failed on impact. His head snapped forward violently and it caused his immediate death. (The HANS device would have prevented this leaving him seriously injured but alive.) Adam Petty likewise did not have the HANS device and although his seat belts held, he was killed on impact. (Accellerator stuck, NASCAR has instituted a throttle kill switch on the steering wheel to lessen the speed of the impact after Adam's death.)
Wrecks happen and so do fires. NASCAR has mandated automatic fire suppression systems in the fuel cell compartment, fireproof suits, a driver activated cockpit fire suppression system, the HANS device to prevent sudden forward head movement during a crash, multiple safety equipment pre-race inspections for all cars, tethers for major equipment to prevent debris deaths, roof escape hatches (not mandated, but used by some teams with taller drivers to aid in escape), spin flaps which deploy to reduce vechicle which get turned around from getting airborne, etc.
Since 2002, a few incidents of drivers getting hurt have happened. No driver deaths in NASCAR's main series have occurred. Tony Stewart three weeks ago got burned when an oil fire came through the shifting boot, he had a quarter sized second degree burn on one leg and one arm. Steve Park was injured in an end over end wreck which tore up 300 yards of steel guardrail but since he had a HANS device, he only had a severe concussion. Michael Waltrip got flipped on his side and was driven into a concrete wall by Dale Earnhardt Jr during a wreck and suffered only minor bruises and scrapes.
Racing is still dangerous, but safety improvements to reduce the force of the impact translated to the driver has made on-track driver fatalities extremely rare. (Most serious injuries and fatalities now occur to pit crews and pit road officials due to accidents.) |

Seems to be the standard "if I repeat something enough times, it'll become true" thought process. |

Seems like childrens shows do these things sometimes. My wife (english) used to watch one when she grew up, where two of the characters were called "Master Bates" and "Seaman Stains". Quite hilarious really. |

I wonder if Chick believes that people have such persuasion powers in real life. "If you don't accept Jesus, you'll go to hell." "You've given me a lot to think about. Please forgive me, Jesus."
Oh and as for that clip... hilarious, can't believe that they got away with it! |

This is probably yet another demonstration of my firm grasp of the obvious, but Jack Chick is certifiable…
And yet, my guess is he is also doing quite well financially. Churches have to buy his tracks in order to pass them out. There are a lot of Evangelicals who use tracks as a tool. They are sold in many languages. A box of 50 of his latest track would will set just one church back about $7.50 tax exempt dollars. Multiply that by a butt load of churches, world wide, and you start to get the picture.
Hey! Maybe we are in the wrong business! To date, SFN had only produced one track. And while it is a popular visitor destination, we could use a lot more tracks and start selling them to evangelical skeptics groups. I think we may be missing the boat on this one...

The C'thulhu Chick tract is back, in revised version.
For those of you who missed it, a Jack Chick spoof about becoming a C'thulhu worshipper was rewoked some time back because of legal issues. (Mostly the text was changed, and too much original artwork remained, and Jack Chick and cohorts obviously objected about that)
However, original artwork has been made for the C'thulhu tract, so here it is...
(Had you been present during the Sunday chat a week ago, you would have gotten the link there... So why not join the chat next sunday afternoon? No one knows what intresting stuff might get discussed.)

Sadly, this is a myth, but a very popular one. Lots of people I know who watched the show as kids claim it is true, but it certainly isn't. If I remember correctly, it originated in the Guardian newspaper (and was picked up by lots of others).
There is some stuff about it here: http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/pugwash.htm

Now that it's been brought up (heh), curosity and forgetfulness sent me back to the OP. This was mentioned in the link after everyone was happily engaged in playing with their twangers and Janes maracas. quote: Someone asked about another childrens TV show "Captain Pugwash" and it's characters names such as Master Bates, Seaman Staines, Pirate Willy and Roger the Cabin Boy. In fact, the crew of the famous Black Pig ship included sailors with no such names: present on board were Master Mate, Tom the Cabin Boy, and Pirates Barnabas and Willy.
Did the crew do this on board the Black Pig?. Make your own mind up Click here to find out. "Captain Pugwash" signature tune. (The Trumpet Hornpipe)
Ah alas, another fun myth bites one the dust.
