Hey, I found it on Spock's intro thread. I'm not losing brain cells that fast after all.

Came here from BABB (the old board) on an invitation from one of the members (Trish, I think). Came, liked what I saw, and stayed.

I think we were finding a forum to bitch about the poster who shall not be named. (Piper/SeeThruArt) I was a little out of my league (ok, a lot out of my league) on the BABB when dealing with the intracies of cosmology. I also wanted to discuss subjects other than astronomy/cosmology.

Same here.
I think I'm one of the most infrequent posting members of that board.

Hello folks!

I lurk at quite a few skeptic/free-thought sites (lots of down time at work), but this place is one of the most congenial, thoughtful, and intelligent groups around. After reading many threads covering social issues, theism, and just general chat, I thought I'd finally wander over here and sign up. Only took a couple of years!

Thanks for maintaining the comfortable atmosphere you've created here.

Over the past few years, while searching for information on several topics which I believe should be approached with skepticism, I've landed on many pages of various skeptics oriented web sites including several here at SFN. I have several friends and acquaintances who aren't very inclined to think critically. Sometimes when they want some simple answers to help them with confusing issues I find good starting points in the articles and forums here at SFN.

After many months of reading bits and pieces of material posted here, I finally decided I'd like to contribute to some of these refreshingly intelligent discussions. So a few days ago I signed up, and here I am.

Welcome to SFN, ooh_child and GeeMack. And thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for the welcome, you guys. I hope to add a few comments ocassionally, but I mostly just read. Oh, and chuckle. But not too loud. Either that, or I'm wiping off my monitor again.

Do you have a cheer squad, maybe? With pom-poms and bouncy skirts? And a routine..that....(trails off in embarrassment.)

Anyway, thanks!

To my best recollection, years ago I made a search for "Skeptic" and this was on the list. It was so long ago, that I cannot be certain. This happened back in the last century, so my memory is quite foggy. It was one of the first sites that I visited after I bought my computer.

Great site. I tend to enjoy reading everybody elses comments, so I do not post as often as I should. (Lazy)

I googled skeptic forum after getting sick of mindless crap on other forums I frequented.
