You know it's coming.
I read the headline and said, oh boy, I know what this is going to do to make creationists happy campers.
Then I read the article. You'd have to not read the article if you want to be a happy creationist camper. I suspect that will be about 80% with an error rate of + or - 20 %.
The process was very complex to get your petrified wood and certainly wouldn't just happen all over the world where petrified wood is found. Also, they got a specific silica mineral deposit replacing the wood. Petrified wood comes in more than one mineral if I am not mistaken, depending on what was around the wood. I would think one can even get opalized wood. I know you can get opalized fossils. |

The vegetation of the early Devonian consisted primarily of small plants, the tallest being only a meter tall. When God finds out that somebody is making stone trees, is he ever going to be pissed! All that work, hundreds of millions of years of carefully crafting stone trees, shot in the ass by some idiot, nosyparker researchers futzing around in places that are none of their concern, when they ought to be in church. Why make more? in the beginning, God knew there'd be a demand for stone trees to try and enhance untentable arguments, so he made enough for everybody who might need some. And now, it's all down the tubes.
