"Jesus" John Ashcroft, that is....

It would seem that a couple of aquitted smut-peddlers are a danger to the security of the country beyond that of organized crime, weapons and cocaine smuggling, bribery and malfeasence of federal office, and so forth.

Gonzales Seeks to Reinstate Obscenity Case

Wed Feb 16, 4:49 PM ET White House - AP Cabinet & State

By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration said Wednesday it would seek to reinstate an indictment against a California pornography company that was charged with violating federal obscenity laws. It was Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' first public decision on a legal matter.

Billed as the government's first big obscenity case in a decade, the 10-count indictment against Extreme Associates Inc. and its owners, Robert Zicari, and his wife, Janet Romano, both of Northridge, Calif., was dismissed last month by U.S. District Judge Gary Lancaster of Pittsburgh.

Does anyone know if that curtain is still up in front of the statues at the JD, or are we again to be enticed into the throes of lust by the salacious sight of a pot metal titty?

I thought the $8,000 curtain was just for Ashcroft's press conferences. Talk about a waste of money. Just hold the press conference somewhere else for crimeny's sake.

I stand corrected.

I seem to recall reading that it cost something like 8 grand. No matter, it's still a crock at any price and Jesus John should have paid out of pocket for it. He was the only one bitching about it.

Thinking back, I don't know what the hours it was up were. Like a lot (most) of people, I was under the impression that it was only taken down by request.

Me too. I also remember a spokesperson stating it had nothing to do with the exposed breast. The drape was needed only to provide a blue (better for cameras) background.

I guess the 9th commandment only applies to lying about a person and not lying to manipulate people for personal gain.
