As far as I know, this guy has been running for the Democratic ticket for the last several terms. He has been sentenced to jail (I still can't get a clear description of the actual charge -- I can only find his spin on it), and seems to hold some very odd political views. Anybody have more information they would like to share?
I am afraid I'm not clever enough to come up with a good signature, eh?

He's a ticket-jumper. He I believe he has run under the Republican party, and I [thought he had] run as a Libertarian.
Lately he believes that the Democratic ticket is his best bet... /shrug
[Unvarified, but I found this, written in 1993:]
quote: In 1985 LaRouche was charged with several crimes and is currently in jail for income tax evasion, fraud and several other offenses.

The Larochie's around here were downright scary in the 80's. He lived in a mansion, had no job, no income, but still paid cash for the mansion. When asked by the IRS where he got the money to pay for these items he replied that he didn't know and people "gave" him money. Since he did not claim the money "given" him, he went to jail. A number one whackjob if you ask me. His followers were real close to religious fanatics.

I've heard he's also into "Zionist conspiracies", etc.

I was going to post earlier but wanted to check my info 1st, now I can say with confidence that you'd better check your source because LaRouche NEVER ran as a Libertarian. Thank you. nlm

Right on there. He ran in Illinois under the independant LaRouche party. The Libertarians wouldn't have him. (smart people) He's out again and runing for state rep. He won't be able to serve if he wins because he is a recent convicted felon. (Illinois law)

Or maybe the libertarians are too wacky for him.
Radioactive GM Crops.
Slightly above background.
Safe to eat.
But no activist would dare rip it out.
As they think it gives them cancer. |

I didn't check any sources, because I would have sworn on my life that he ran as the Libertarian Presidential candidate in, like, 1976 [he ran under the U.S. Labor party then]. He has also run under the National Economic Recovery Party (whatever that is).
Oh well, sorry. At least it's a popular misconception! ------------

Not sure what you mean by 1976 and the Labor party and the Libertarians, are you connecting them with the Libertarians. I don't think so but your post is a little unclear. Anyway, it might not be your fault, my sources tell me that it was erronously reported once that he ran as a Libertarian although a retraction was made, as you know they get put on the back page. quote: He has also run under the National Economic Recovery Party (whatever that is).
I don't know but....maybe his own party?

Yes, it is. Let's hope no one else looses his life over it.

I was simply correcting my mistake. I had thought that he ran as a Libertarian in 1972 or 1976. I supplied the U.S. Labor party information just as an aside, to let people know (if they care) that he ran under that party, not the Libertarians.

Lyndon LaRouche is an ex-leftist who, in the 7os and 80s, became a fascist-oriented right winger. He espouses various conspiracy theories, including that henry Kissinger and the Queen of England are the true heads of the international drug trade. At one time, he had some clout, and one of his followers actually won the Democratic primary for Attorney General in, I believe, Illinois. (He was beaten by the incubent, running as a write-in.) His stuff has a certain hyper-rationalist seductiveness that appeals to the intellectual pretensions of libertarians. He's a nut-job.

Nope, still don't see any reference to death.
Who's going to lose their life? Who has lost their life in this context?!

Please don't include most Libertarians in your statement. I'm on a couple of Libertarians lists, no one I know likes him. If you are not a Libertarian, please don't speak for us. If you are, please just say it's your personal view, thank you.
