This is a very minor thing, but I can see it becoming a problem as the weeks go on. On the Skeptic Summary page, how about having the issue numbers count down instead of up, i.e. start at 27 and go down to 1. This means you don't have to scroll to the bottom of the page to view the latest one.
Good idea, Ricky. I'm sure one of the admins can fix that. |

I don't think this idea will fly, considering the summary is stored in the database in the same fashion as ordinary posts. But it is a great idea though... |

To view the latest Summary, click on the link in the middle of the home page. The link under the words "Skeptic Summary: The Staff."
As far as I know, right now, to reverse the order in which the issues are displayed on the archive page would require re-ordering all of the issues for a year, each time a new one was added. Doing it once wouldn't be too much of a hassle, but say we had 2005's going from 27 down to 22 right now. When I add #28 in a little bit, it'd be displayed as 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 28, and I'd have to reorder all seven. Then next week, I'll have to reorder eight of 'em. And so on, until in late December I'm reordering 50+ issues every week. And yes, to reorder them I have to specify the order for each and every one, there is no "shorthand" for "stick this one up top."
Mind you, it is a good idea, and it seems that plenty of online archives of magazines and whatnot keep their latest issues at the top of the page, but it'd be largely impractical right now without a pretty big code change. |
