However, like it or not, his taped lectures will go on forever.

From Dave's link, he didn't sound like such a bad guy. Certainly not a Robertson or Falwell.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Whatever else he was, he was certainly an interesting character. He held a legitimate Phd in Education from Stanford, and his lectures went in all directions ... UFOs, pyramids, Atlantis, you name it.

I actually liked the guy, although I could only handle him for about ten minutes at a time.

Well, unlike most TV evangelists, he was his own man. Describing him as strange would be an understatement. I watched many of his shows and I never knew what the hell he was talking about…

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

By the way, "All Things Considered" did a decent piece on Scott which gives a little more insight into the guy, for those (like me) who never saw him in action.
