The English town of Carlisle installed a stone monument a during its millennium celebration depicting a "curse" against 16th-century invaders. However, after a string of bad incidents (including floods, livestock deaths, and job lay-offs), some city elders are pressuring to have the work of art removed.quote: Now the local council is to debate a motion about whether to move the Cursing Stone outside the city boundaries, or even destroy it altogether.
It was proposed by councillor Tim Tootle, who said he was finally pushed into action by floods which deluged Carlisle in January, killing three people.
"Many groups and individuals warned the council that the placing of a non-Christian artifact, based on an old curse on local families, would bring ill luck to the city," he was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
"This has (been) seen to be correct."
Ah, flawless logic. If only they had installed a granite monument of the ten commandments all of this could have been avoided.

Tsk tsk, and which other god that wasn't supposed to be "before me" would be responsible for this curse?

I read on the James Randi site that Uri Gellar offered to take the curse stone and install it in his "healing" garden. My question is, if the Carlisle stone is "healed" won't it be even better at wrecking havoc? |
