quote:
I guess that's really the biggest reminder that I got from the second graders: Children matter. The students that we educate today are going to be the teachers and scientists of the future. They deserve nothing less from us than the best education that we can give them - and that means that we should encourage their curiosity, and provide honest answers to their questions.
Amen.
I get to teach a practical course in chemistry to a group of biology-students next week. I wasn't particularly looking forward to it because of the time it takes away from my research, but this really boosted my spirit.

As usual though, "The Messenger" (a frequent creationist/ID (I forget) poster over at Panda's Thumb) is already there twisting things around to suggest that biology teachers are "indoctrinating" kids, and that "a true teacher is not afraid to allow a student to explore all ideas and possiblities," doubtlessly including creationism or ID. |
