I too, have gotten weary of all this crap, and I have a couple of projects that are past due for attention. So, fuck it, I'm taking a hiatus.

Well, I think lat is a deluded maniac without any grip on reality or in possession of a sense of reason. I don't think he should be banned for his irrational beliefs, but I do think he should be banned for the sheer volume of his disruptive posts, insults of SFN moderators, and most importantly his refusal to engage in any sort of constructive dialogue.

I don't think the forums are a soap box. Either you defend your statements and answer questions or go write your manifesto on your own dime. I've personally washed my hands of him. I will no longer post in response to anything he says. Banning him will only save me the trouble of having to navigate around his cowpies.

I'm sorry to hear this. I do hope that you will return. Good luck on your projects.

May your hiatus be no longer than the last one. We will miss you in the meantime.

Okay people. It comes down to this. Either our TOS agreement is a joke or it's not. Yes, we are lax most of the time. But a flagrant and repeat violator of the agreement must be dealt with in some way. Dave and I have issued official and unofficial warnings to latinijral. My warning to him last night was official. That makes three official warnings. Both Val and Mab have been warning him repeatedly. We have, at times, warned other people in an unofficial way, and they have responded to those warnings. (You know who you are.) It just happens that nothing we do seems to work on latinijral. This is not about playing into latinijral's hands. He can scream from the rooftops about how unfair we are and I won't care. What this is about is maintaining some sort of order on our site. That is, after all, what the TOS agreement is for.

We do very much care about what all of our members think. We are here to serve you by providing the best environment possible on our forums. We have never been hasty about censuring, deleting or even issuing warnings, because the free flow of ideas cannot happen in an oppressive environment. I have been extremely proud of the level of discussion on our forums and I have all of you to thank for that. It is because of the behavior of our members that drastic action by the administrators and moderators has never really been an issue at SFN.

Ultimately, someone has to make a call. And either way the decision goes, it will be with an eye on preserving the integrity of our boards. Latinijral has not been banned yet. The ball is, and really, has always been in his court.

Thank you for your input. You can be sure that there is a lot of soul searching and discussion going on about this matter at the administration level.

First, I would like to offer my apologies to SFN for a post I made in another (since locked) thread. My remarks were inappropriate, and to the extent that they reflect badly on the members here, I apologize. My only excuse is that I let my frustration and disgust get the better of me. Frustration that the forums here were becoming mostly the schoolyard of one unbalanced individual, whose posts have become completely pointless and increasingly unpleasant. And disgust at the depths to which this individual has sunk in his quest to defame a man who he doesn't even know, and who has, at best, a very tangential relationship to SFN. While I may not have expressed myself properly, my sentiments remain. I find this individual to be loathsome and dishonorable, and his leaving SFN, either of his own volition or by action of the staff, cannot come too soon. I trust the staff to do the right thing. Again, please accept my apologies.
