Well, I just can't go there. I don't care if Pope John Paul was one tough little bastard. He died of old age. There are many Catholics who will die of AID's because this Pope re-affirmed the official position of the church rather than risking a disaster for the church. That, being the birth of a few less Catholics. That even one new Catholic might not be born seems to be the overriding concern of the church. I suppose, if you do the numbers, it works out for them. This Pope had the chance to do the right thing with the support of many priests in the church who still support the relaxation of the church's rules in this area, to help curtail the spread of HIV infection.
He took an indefensible position. So my position is, well, he is dead now so I guess I don't have a position. Let me try though.

Hey, we're talkin' about a defunct pope here, not Ace Rimmer!
Never the less, it would seem that he was a lot more influential than our current Bush imbecile, or the doddering Reagan even after he stopped cluttering up the landscape.
But 35,000 news stories with many more to come seems a bit much. And I'm sure that there will be as many more when they finally drop him in the hole and get him out of sight before he starts to look and smell a little funky. After that, there will be a papal election during which God will speak to the cardinals and tell them what they'd already decided in the first place, and we'll get still more Pope. The whole thing is fast becoming a very dull scene. Let us be thankful that they don't fall off the limb more often.
Smoke him a kipper; he'll be back for breakfast.

He's catching up in a Googlefight with another recent newsmaker.
So I see. We can only conclude that he was a late starter and has some ground to make up. But I gots faith! John Paul'll be getting his second wind any time now, and leave the competition in the dust.
Is anyone running a book on this....?

Oh, this is gonna get good! If I have the dates correct, there will be a partial eclipse of the sun on the day they bury John Paul.

What came first the chicken or the egg?
How do plants exist without bugs in the soil, and bugs in the soil without plants producing oxygen?
There are no atheists in foxholes
Underlying the evolutionary theory is not just the classic "stuff" of science — conclusions arrived at through prolonged observation and experimentation. Evolution is first an atheistic, materialistic world view. In other words, the primary reason for its acceptance has little to do with the evidence for or against it. Evolution is accepted because men are atheists by faith and thus interpret the evidence to cor-respond to their naturalistic philosophy.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4
II Thess. 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
You can not see the 'wind', but you can see its effect!!!!
Evolution was caused by genetic mistakes at each stage?
Radical Evolution has 500 million years to find fossils of fictional drawings of (hard core)missing links, yet they find none.
We have not seen such moral darkness since the dark ages, coencides with teaching evolution in schools. (Moral darkness)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.
"Thus, many scientists embracing naturalism find themselves in the seeming dilemma recently articulated by biochemist Franklin Harold: "We should reject, as a matter of principle, the substitution of intelligent design for the dialogue of chance and necessity [i.e., Darwinian evolution]; but we must concede that there are presently no detailed Darwinian accounts of the evolution of any biochemical system, only a variety of wishful speculations."

Divorce and abortion are no one else's damned business beyond the those directly concerned. Witchcraft is and has always been a bogyman used by various priests and other devout mendicants to keep their congregations scared and in line, and keep the donations rolling in. And historicly, it has the added advantage of getting rid of members of the community who might think too much.
And that's the Great Sin, isn't it? Thought outside of the guidlines approved by the church and/or state.
From Falwell to Phelps; Bush to bin Laden; Scalia to Roy Moore, fuck 'em all! My mind is my own....

And wasn't there some credence to the issue 'men', wanting to promote their own power, fabricated the accusation of witchcraft toward 'women' healers and midwives in order to discredit them? Seems, "Thou shall not covet...", is another one of those commandments like, "Thou shall not bear false witness...", that is often conveniently ignored from time to time. |

Wait-- did you actually write "... and witchcraft"?!? Right. The number one threat to American civilization. Witchcraft. Thanks for looking out for us, Verlch!

Nonono, Cune. It's the number-three threat to America. Abortion is number one, and divorce number two (nevermind that verlch has been through a divorce, the sinner). |
