From the Thumb:
quote:
The Schweitzer/Horner team that we have followed for years has released their newest result today. They had raised a tremendous clamor among young earth creationists late last March when they announced that they had recovered flexible tissues identifiable as blood vessels, blood cells, and osteocytes from a Tyrannosaur rex femur. (See ”Dino Blood Redux”. At that time, they made a rather cryptic comment that there was something unusual about the gross architecture of the bone, and that they had a second paper already in review with Science.

The Schweitzer/Horner paper is coming out in Science tomorrow. It will be interesting to watch AiG, et al, slather on the whitewash. It will be even more interesting to watch where the science leads.

Beat me to this one, data point 10 million for our side confirming evolution.

Horner said most experts are convinced the two-legged dinosaurs known as theropods were closely related to living birds.
"This is another piece to the puzzle, and there are a lot of them," he said. "Anyone who would argue that birds and dinosaurs are not related — frankly, I'd put them in the Flat Earth Society group."

Yes, yes, but not so loud! The atheistic Darwinbots are everywhere and if they overhear you, they will ruthlessly pounce upon your arguments and laugh at your firm, Scriptural evidence. Then, they will sneer at blessed Noah and his Ark, piss gasoline on your straw men, make kippers of your red herrings, and show no respect for the icons of Creationist Science.

Then, when you try and defend yourself in the traditional manner, they will howl with glee and viciously accuse you of ad hom attacks on the messengers of their folly.

It is far better to borrow a page from the remarkable Dembski, and sneak it in the back door when the Darwinbots are recharging their batteries between attacks upon the intellect of innocent school children. Then, as long as that KS lawyer with the unpronouncable name, or another of the ilk, doesn't interfere, the Wedge can be driven ever deeper into the soft, quivvering flesh of American education. And soon, soon, we can show our true, Creationist colors.

So, be patient and send a generous faith offering to The Filthy Fund for the Advancement of the Sacred Conjecture. It will be well and truely spent in the service of that Conjecture, I assure you, oh yes.....

Man, Darwinbot is such a cool word. Next time i need a nick that's the one i'm gonna use. Kinda sounds like a name for a Transformer.

Come to think of it, i wonder what the robots on the other side are called..
I'm thinking "Deceptionists", under the ruthless command of Dembskitron.

Plyss, someone over on the Thumb suggested that instead of "neo-con" or "fundie-con" or any of the other terms used for ultra-conservatives these days, we should just call them what they are, "decepticons":
Generally characterized as miltaristic, brutal, and lacking in regard for personal freedom...
Sounds right to me.

I too, think 'Darwinbot' is kinda neat, but in all honesty, it's not an invention of mine own. I found it on the Thumb, where else?

It was coined by one Ms. Denyse O'Leary whilst in defense of the indefenesable. I merely borrowed of it.

This O'Leary is not related to the owner of the Chicago Cow, as far as anyone knows, but her blog is a barn-burner never the less. Many claims of a great controversy in the scientific community over the ToE.

It would indeed make a fun handle. Enjoy!

Ah... I do remember the Deceptecons.

However, "Dembskitron" sounds positively insidious.

I always rooted for the deceptecons. They were a lot cooler - better vehicles (deathplanes instead of vw beetles, for instance) and a refreshingly transparent morality.

Sadly, as we all know, evil sows the seeds for its own destruction and despite their inherrent coolness and the fact that they were way more powerful and ruthless and the fact that they had massive cannons and shot fire out of their eyes and so on, the deceptecons always lost out to the goody-goody and excessively lame transformers.

Presumably there is a lesson for us all to learn here.

Of course, it's just possible that I might have taken the whole thing slightly too seriously.

It might be worth noting that I made the term 'deathplane' up. I don't know what would constitute a deathplane, but if I were a deceptecon, I would definitely be a deathplane one.
