56% hit rate? Little more than chance there. There's no explaination of the particular tests, are there? Time/life also had a book on ancient mysteries which included some older claims which had been debunked as well as not naming specifics. In some cases, it read like pure fiction.
quote: Another test in the book describes a subject Harary : " Harary was again isolated in a closed booth in one building and was asked to project himself to a room in another building , where four staff members were gathered.Harary was to identify the people he saw there. He scored perfectly on the first attempt, not only identifying the participants but accurately reporting where each of the four was seated."
How many staff memebers worked for that particular branch. IIRC, ASPR was not a large organization in the late 70's. Again, chance as it was not repeated with the same results. |

And there was an extensive (to the tune of $20 million) research project around the same time, funded by the CIA, into remote viewing. The conclusion of that project was that it was bullshit, and a waste of taxpayer money.
The "American Society for Physical Research", to my knowledge, is/was a group of credulous paranormal investigators. I would have serious doubts about the scientific credibility of any expiriments carried out by them.
