Well, Ricky, you don't tell them you have a half pint of Evan Williams in your pocket that you're going to mix with the $3.50 medium Coke you just bought! You just do it... |

A poster on another site was ranting because some talking head on one of the Fox news programs had actually suggested that the slump in ticket sales was due to "liberal" Hollywood bashing President Bush and his policies last year.

Probably believes that Pat Robertson is being misquoted or taken out of context as well. Hell, I saw where Pat denied using the word assassination.
20 years ago I would see about 30 movies a year, many for just a buck. Brothers Grimm will likely be my third movie this year. Very little of what's being made appeals to me. |

I'm lucky enough to go for free every so often. My friends sister manages a theater. There is the appeal to some of going to a theater, hanging out with friends, the gigantic screen, the trip there, I still go to a drive-in once a year or so. But the negatives keep me home and the price of buying the DVD (which comes out pretty soon after the theater run these days) is about the same as bringing the family out to the movies. With home theaters and surround sound systems which rival the best a theater can do it's no wonder the movie biz in theaters is falling. Each year of movie productions adds to the huge amount of movies available in stores and libraries everywhere. The choice for many now is, do I want to see a good old movie or take a chance at the theater with another sequel, prequel, TV movie, comic hero, blah blah.... I try to go about 2 weeks after the release when I do go though because most of the kids have seen it by then. |

Hey, most comic movies suck because of the same reasons that all movies suck. The people who made them do a bad job. When they actually try to do a good job they come out quite good. X-Men (perhaps the only series where the sequel was better than the original), Spider Man, Batman begins, Sin City. And not all comics are about super heroes ...
End of rant. |

Spiderman 2 was, IMHO, a pretty damed good film-- better than the first. X-Men 2 was fun, but I wonder how they're going to play the Jean Gray angel and worry that it'll fuck things up... |

There is a local theatre that is set up so each row of seats is like a bar, seat and bartop right infront of you. In between each row of seats is a lowered walkway for the waitress/bartender to have access.... very cool theatre.
Anyway... you can order drinks and food. Full bar. It rocks.

Yeah most movies suck nowadays.
Ditto, but... seriously. People are just rude in public these days. It's become this society of people that feel entitled to just not give a rats ass about anyone but themselves. And, in the movies... it's amplified.
Kids running in the isles... people talk... it's insane. |
