What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

"the issue has left the city struggling to balance its mandate to protect public health with the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom."
This shouldn't be such a struggle. People are free to practice their religion in whatever way they choose so long as it doesn't hurt non-conscenting others or their property. Children cannot conscent, thus they need to be protected. I think it's good that the city is doing a study and handling this delicately, but given that the Doctor says that this practice will inevitably lead to babies contracting herpes from time to time, I'd say prosecute the rabbi and perhaps also the parents for reckless endangerment whenever a child is harmed by this practice. It's not like they can reasonably plead ignorance to the dangers of this practice since most Orthodox Jews have abandoned it. |

quote: The practice is known as oral suction, or in Hebrew, metzitzah b'peh: after removing the foreskin of the penis, the practitioner, or mohel, sucks the blood from the wound to clean it.
Anyone that would allow this to be done to their children, and anyone stupid enough to do it, need to be punched in the head.
The image of some old man sucking an infant's bloody penis aside, HOW can anyone think this is sanitary or safe?
