Siberia is not gonna like this!

What's really bad...
quote:
The Hovind Theory

Many questions have been asked about the flood and Pangea, so I would like to put forth the Hovind Theory, which I believe explains how the flood occured and puts things such as the ice age, the wooly mammoths, dinosaurs, etc. all in their proper context regarding Biblical history. Most of the questions people have been asking about the flood are answered by the Hovind theory, which also explains some of the erosion features we see on Mars.

Oh yeah.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Well I'm all for bad Christian art. The fact that it is so bad (bad meaning contrived, overly literal, and often poorly executed) just emphasizes that they are either throw-backs to an outdated way of thinking or at least cultural cripples.

Of course, that's exactly my problem with www.americanfundamentalists.com being associated with the freethought movement. But I probably need to let that go. If atheists/skeptics/brights/freethinkers want to advertise that they morons when it comes to art, and embrace propaganda, who am I to stop them.

But back to the Christian art, most of those images when looked at all by themselves could be interpreted in a nonChristian way. There's a guy in my MFA program who is Catholic, and after discovering that he was Catholic I interpreted this print he did as from a Christian point of view. (The print is of a sylized black and white human figure pulling a fish with a human-like face from the water - probably a reference to Jesus saying "I will make you a fisher of men.") But previous to knowing that the guy was Catholic (and a convert, too), I interpreted that print in terms of evolution and human's biological connection to animals, even fish. (Because that's how I think.)

Real good art is hardly an effective vehicle for spouting ideology. That's the job of visual propaganda. And the stuff on this website is far too unsophisticated to be that.

It's really lame art, as far as DA art goes.
It's quite depressing, as well, but DA is full of other mythologies and pagan clubs and contests, so I think they're thankfully outnumbered in a sea of craziness.
