Muslim creationist Harun Yahya:
http://groups.google.se/group/talk.origins/msg/cb0b7f9b3023ae6f?hl=sv
quote:
For this reason, if some people commit terrorism using the concepts and
symbols of Islam, Christianity and Judaism in the name of those
religions, you can be sure that those people are not Muslims,
Christians or Jews. They are in fact Social Darwinists. They hide under
a cloak of religion, but they are not genuine believers. Even if they
claim to be serving religion, they are actually enemies of religion and
believers. That is because they are ruthlessly committing a crime that
religion forbids, and in such a way as to blacken religion in peoples'
eyes.

For this reason, the root of the terrorism that plagues our world is
not in any of the monotheistic religions, but is in atheism, and the
expression of atheism in our times: 'Darwinism' and 'materialism'.
Impressive logic.

What a maroon. The ol' "No True Scotsman" modified.

And this type of logic is used by the same people wanting to teach fantasy to our children as science.

More than that, he is saying that the devil has deliberately disguised himself as a Scotsman to give Scotsman a bad name.

Now, Scotsmen do this well enough themselves, without the devils assistance.

It has long occured to me that the devil could do worse than disguise himself as the Catholic or Muslim church.

The world was truly a peaceful place before Darwin came along. No murders, no theft, no wars. Everyone was peacefully reading their religious text of choice in the presence of bright flowers and tweeting birds.

I love how he goes from "social Darwinism" to "atheism", "Darwinism" and "Materialism". As if the concepts were interchangable.

Also from the article: Darwin set out with one basic premise when developing his theory: 'The
development of living things depends on the fight for survival. The
strong win the struggle. The weak are condemned to defeat and
oblivion.'

This guy is so missing the mark. One, even if nature is blindly ruthless, that doens't mean human beings should also be that way. And two, often what makes an intelligent, social organism (like humans and other higher order mammals) "strong" enough to be favored for survival is things like a moderate amount of altruism, love for each other, desire to care for our children, etc. He throws the terms around as if "strong" only means big, muscular, selfish and vicious.

Blatherers like this one deliberately distort Darwin's words.

What he meant by "fittest" was most able to survive in a given environment. This entails whatever qualities are appropriate.

These idiots are clueless, they take a quote, distort it to fit their personal view, and blather on. Kinda like people do with the bible.

Okay so the strong survive, but I don't see how that supports the notion of terrorism? Assuming these people are inflicting the weak by attacking them, it's no longer Natural Selection, but directed.

Harun Yahya's been around for a long time, although this is the first I've heard from him in a while. Nice to see that his idiotcy hasn't weakened with age.

Of course, he commits the same fallacy as his Christian counterparts: the tired old "Hitler was a Darwinist!" gag. None of these clowns ever take into account that no matter who is inspired by what, it makes not the slightest difference to the ToE. Hitler was also a Christian and Osama bin Laden is, after all, a Muslim.

There were no atheists commandeering aircraft on 9/11/01.

And stating ad nauseum that the ToE has no scientific support does not make the statement true. A pity that Yahya and his YEC counterparts are so intellectually destitute that thay can only gibber the same rubbish over and over.
