One of their men posted here for a while, I believe...Well, I was wandering around their site when I found this article about the "Man eaten by a Dinosaur" hoax.

Good news, they seem to take serious "evolutionists" claims that one should carefully check out evidence.
quote:
We knew this was a fake fossil when we placed it on our website. Some have asked, why place a hoax on a site who's main objective is to explore the truth of our origins? Just this, it's a wake up call to all who believe in the creation account. On April 1, 1999 this joke was put on the Internet to criticize creationists for their weak over used arguments and lacking any solid physical proof. He's right; we need to be more objective and thorough if we wish to be credible. Many Creationists were duped into thinking it was real. Was it wishful thinking or poor investigation on their part? Even the nameless Aussie creationist who introduced me to these photos was disappointed when I sent him the link exposing this prank. All too often we believe something too quickly or refuse to change our position when new evidence is presented to the contrary.

Well, they've announced that they're looking for fossils that support the biblical view:
quote:
Bibleland Studios has an announcement. Commencement of a worldwide hunt for artifacts substantiating the Biblical account of creation begins today. In the next few days we will be rolling out a plan to find our "missing links." As we search out REAL artifacts substantiating creationism, my challenge to the Evolutionists is to continue to hunt for your "missing link(s)". Let's show who is right once and for all. I ask you, will finding a 500-foot 5,000-year-old ship atop a mountain do it? How about a real dinosaur swallowing a human fossil? What about a 4000-year-old 12-foot human skeleton with a calculator in his hand?
Hmmm...have any of the missing links that evolutionists have found convinced any of your guys yet? Easy to act cocky about other people's ability to accept evidence when you ignore the fact that you people have apparently accepted none given by our side.

quote:
Let's get to work. I will need everyone's help. In the next 2 weeks, two programs will be introduced. Stay tuned for more details and may the best "truth" win.
Well, it already has. Not that it makes any difference to these people!

I guess no one's told this guy that we HAVE found many missing links, and are still in the process of finding more. Those people act like the race has just started, when in acutality, they are WAY behind.

Besides that problem, it looks like they've not yet taken their own advice about believing things too quickly

EDIT: Added links to TO links files.

The irony of it is that every fossil that we find is a "missing" link. Every single lifeform found is an ancestor of life today, and is therefore a link in the chain.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

They ain't even made it to the startin' gate yet.

But, assuming that this 'hunt' goes forward, I wonder what they'll, not 'find', so much as 'come up with.'

Is this part of the group that recently had to cancel an expitition up the north face of Mt. Ararat, to look for the fabled ark?

Haha, my thoughts exactly. What scientist says "this is the evidence we need to base our observations on in order to justify the belief we already hold. No go out there and get it, boys!"

No, that would support the notion that some things in the bible may be true. It would not support creationism or falsify evolution.

How about a real dinosaur swallowing a human fossil?

If humans and dinosaurs co-existed, I seriously doubt that any of the dinosaurs would eat fossils.

If by calculator he means an abacus, then I don't think anyone would be too surprised. If one was found with something looking like a Casio fx-82, then that would imply that a highly advanced civilisation had been found. If the skeleton was 12-foot tall, then that would mean that the tallest human ever had been discovered. Nothing which supports creationism, and nothing which falsifies evolution.

Nope. None of the fossil saber-toothed cats or giant ground sloths or mammoths we have here in North America are the ancestors of any living species. Similarly, no Brachiosaurus is ancestral to any creature living today (though an ancestor of Brachiosaurus is, itself, ancestral to all birds), and no descendants of Dodos will ever be found. Some species do, indeed, go extinct without leaving behind an evolved (or evolving) population.

This is why the "link in the chain" analogy is a bad one. A "map" of all species, living or dead, looks like a bush. Some of the twigs are "dead ends" buried deep inside.

Anyway... Ig, I'm sure you've noticed that the article you linked to is over eight months old already. I don't have the heart to go poking around to see what kind of "help" this guy, John Adolfi, ever got.

Adolfi (website homepage)is a dingbat, but not too much dingier than most. He has something of a fixation on the Pedro Mountain Mummy, thinking that if he can locate it and test it (DNA and so forth) he might stand a chance of refuting the ToE.

This mummy of a child (it's some 14" long), found in WY, actually exists, or did some years ago. It has since vanished into myth and mystery, and probably someone's private collection.

It would appear that Adolfi is trying to prove the inerrantcy of Genesis by using the shotgun approach. I find myself tempted to fabricate, oh, I dunno, perhaps a clovis point stuck in a vertebrae of Crotalus giganteus.

Interesting site, John.

But if this skull is represented as an archeological find, I must take exception to it.

When was the last time you saw an ancient skull with perfect teeth? Hell, comes to that, how many living people do we know with the same, enviable condition that haven't been 'worked on'?

I'd also like to know more about the stone books. What do they represent and where were they found?

Unfortunatly, the font on the site is so small that my ancient eyes have difficulty reading it.

Yes, it does look more like an artifact than anything else.

I must also ask: where are the remains of the giant population's habitates and middens? Humans(?) this size would have had a pretty large impact on their enviornment and their middens espeaclly would be highly imformative; far more so than mere bones. -- didn't we just go through all this a little while back?

And I remain curious about the Stone Books.

Isn't that picture just supposed to be a model, and NOT an actual fossil? I mean, come on!

There's no way anyone could/would pass that off as an actual fossil. It's just a bigger version of the model skulls that one puts in fish tanks.

Hello Everyone,

Just seeing if you folks were paying attention. No the skull is styrofoam and found on E-bay last October. It's entirely for scale and affect. The circumference is about 46". Measure your head and then guess how tall this fella would be? This is the size of human remains we are looking for. Anyone who finds me one this big and I purchase it, I'll give you a 10% referral fee. BTW you can read about Angus MacAskill the tallest and strongest man who ever lived on our site and get some more good laughs at our wild and wacky ideas.

Of course, since we know biology doesn't "scale up" like this, the comparison is irrelevant.

I'm afraid that with this giant project you will be doomed to disappointment. A 13 foot tall human would no longer be human. Virtually all of the giants, the human anomolies such as Andre suffered serious joint problems. What you are looking for, if it were healthy, would have to have a skeleton quite different from ours to carry it's weight.

Be cautious and skeptical with your reward money. Lot's of otherwise sensible people fell for this one, and scoundrels such as myself abound...
