Since it's near the beginning of the month, I'd like to issue the SFN's regular call for nominations for both "Post of the Month" and "Thread of the Month," for October. We'll collect the nominations here in this thread, and then the staff will make the final choices, and publish links to the selected post and thread in the first Skeptic Summary following the beginning of the next month, and I'll edit the selected items to reflect their status.

Please keep in mind the SFN's mission statement when nominating posts and threads:
The mission of the Skeptic Friends Network is to promote skepticism, critical thinking, science and logic as the best methods for evaluating all claims of fact, and we invite active participation by our members to create a skeptical community with a wide variety of viewpoints and expertise.
The reason I'm starting this thread now is that I'd like you to go ahead and post nominations while things are fresh in your head, instead of trying to remember stuff after the month in question is over. Feel free to nominate more than one post and/or thread, or even to "de-nominate" your own previous nominations if you feel that a better post or thread comes along later in the month.

Please do not nominate your own posts, or even threads you've started. And let's definitely refrain from arguing about nominations (or the results). Also, while I've got high hopes for this effort, I feel I must say that the staff reserves the right to disqualify, modify or otherwise ignore any and all nominations for "Post of the Month" and "Thread of the Month," and we also reserve the right to change, modify or otherwise ignore any rule or guideline, whether they be express, implied or completely unstated.

My vote for best post is kil's post in the 9-11 thread on the bottom of page 12. It made me want to applaud.

My next vote would be your's, Dave, on the following page.

So far only two nominations for Post of the Month...
Can we have more nominations?
Both posts are made by staff-members, and it just doesn't feel right voting for ourselves.

Thread of the month: Markie's Evolutionary ideas
Post of the month: ar's last post in second law of thermodynamics. I'm NOT picking on him with this nomination. I just think that realizing that you might be wrong goes well with SFN's mission statement. He is to be commended for that.

Post of the Month-
Markie's original post that started the discussion of Markie's Evolutionary Ideas, and evolved into the thread of that name. It's a little hard to pinpoint, but it might be his post on...

http://www.skepticfriends.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5024&whichpage=5#76209

or the next page. Markie shows creativity, and a willingness to defend his ideas knowing that most here disagree with them.

Thread of the Month-
Markie's Evolutionary Ideas
Interesting and educational exchange; Attempted decimation of Markie's creationist viewpoint by ruthlessly efficient tag-team of Dr. Mabuse and others insightful input, and DaveW's logical prowess.

Ronniewhite, you missed out a '?' between topic.asp and TOPIC_ID in the link above. That's why it doesn't work (in case anyone else than me have tried to click on it)

And if you append #76209 to the end of the link, it will also find the post you were referring to?
