...this comes to Denver.

http://www.dare2share.org/denver

I've seen the adverts here and wondered the whole Revolution thing was about. Then I noticed the one thing to get my attention, 'Sponsored in association with Focus on the Family' Well, local whacko Dobson and Revolution: Change the Course of History, got my curiosity going and I had to look it up.

The purpose of the conference...to 'Energize a Generation to Evagelize the World'

I worry about these people sometimes. I needed the 'spiritual retreat' every two months or so to brainwash myself into religion as a teen...this sounds more intensive than the retreats my church used to sponsor then.

...no one has ever found a 4.5 billion year old stone artifact (at the right geological stratum) with the words "Made by God."

Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

They (Women Marines) don't have a nickname, and they don't need one. They get their basic training in a Marine atmosphere, at a Marine Post. They inherit the traditions of the Marines. They are Marines.

Yeh, I think I can give this one a miss as well. TAM would certainly be more interesting, enlightening, and just plain ol' fun than listening to famous meglomaniacs pimp for the Jew on a Stick.

If these turkies are going to "Evanglize the World," they'd better get a'crackin'. It's a pretty populous and diverse planet and they have a lot of serious brainwashing ahead of them before they can return us to the 14th Century.

I'm told that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and behind but gaining on Christianity in numbers.

Is Islam growing through the birth rate of it's home countries or converts? (Guess I shouldn't ask something that impolite, but...)

Just what I need, a bunch of teens and college kids running around praising god. It was bad enough that I was accosted by girls for Jesus four times in one day, in of all places - Boulder, newage fruit and nut central in CO. Go figure.

That's not impolite, it's a reasonable question- idunno. As prolific as Islam is in the world, that would seem to make sense.

Not only a reasonable question, but a very good one. I think both, as the faith has made some fairly large inroads in black populations, here and abroad, starting, I think, in the '60s. Of course, many African populations have been Islamic for centuries.

If what I've rather casually read is correct, it has also been gaining amongst Orientals, particularly in SE Asia. There is also the matter of them not losing many individuals to other faiths or atheism, at least not in countries that are mostly or entirely Islamic. In many places, being apostate can get you killed in some rather nasty ways -- kind'a like the Christianity of the good ol' days, ain't it?

I suspect that Islam is the main reason that virtually all of our evangelical Christian leaders are so strong in supporting the Iraqi war, whatever platitudes about 'freedom' they mouth to their flocks.

Heh, vodka and valium indeed! I hadn't thought of it, but that nicely describes the stoned rictus you so often see at the various, religious get-togethers. Add crack and crank, and you got holy-rollers tryin' to save their souls.

Ok, it's a reasonable question, but when I thought of it I was being a bit cynical. I guess I know myself well enough to question my own motives for asking some questions.

Thinking that "anti-Muslim" sentiment on the part of Christian fanatics, as mentioned, might have actually intentionally contributed to the current Iraq situation is creepy... it brings the reality of just how much potential for lunacy there still is in a "modern society" into ugly focus.

The solution next time they're on a rampage is... you "get the jump on them." See them coming, have your favorite flyers/cards ready and hittem' up first... explain you're panhandlin', too. Maybe you're with the local "Temple of Baal", or maybe you're a lobbyist pushing to require "exorcism" classes in the local public school system, and need donations for bribes... I mean, uh, to "forward the cause."

I was drinking a cup of coffee, reading a book. Unfortunately, the book gave them the opening to ask, 'What are you reading?' Next time instead of Lucretius maybe I should read No Sense of Obligation by Matt Young.

Or you can wrap the paper cover from "Satanic Rituals" over whatever you were reading. When I was young I remember people having porn-rags inside Marvel comics, pretending to be enjoying Spiderman or whatever.

Very sinister, can't recall whether that was one of the "Highway Exits To Satan" in that other post... if not on the "map", surely on the "Atlas Edition." We used to wander to the magazine display at local pharmacy and sneek Playboy, Penthouse, etc. until very nasty pharmacist nailed us. I guess I was too far gone by then.

Not bad, but a better fundie repellent yet: as soon as you're approached, whip out your styrofoam cup with a little change in it, rattle the change, and with breath reeking of Night Train, beg for money to buy food.

You won't get any, but you'll be left alone...

Won't suggest you join their church, either. Nope. Don't think so.
